In den beiden ersten Abschnitten sind zwei F~lle yon Heteranthie geschfldert, die besonderes Interesse deshalb verdienen, weft in beiden die Verschiedengestaltigkeit der einzelnen Blfiten durch Resupinationserscheinungen im weiteren Sinne zustande kommt und die relative Lage an der I~lanze fiber die Ausgestaltung entseheidet. Im fibrigen stellen die beiden beschriebenen Typen sowohl in morphologiseh-entwicklungsgeschichtlicher wie funktioneller Beziehung entgegengesetzte Extreme dar. Es handelt sich ferner um Experimente, die unerwarteterweise die Natur selbst anstellte, sodal~ der Beobachter sie nur zu finden, abzulesen und zu erg~nzen brauchte. Im AnsehluB daran wird fiber zwei blfiten5kologisch bemerkenswerte Beobachtungen berichtet, zun~ichst fiber Ausschaltung eines komplizierten Best~ubungsmeehanismus und dabei stattfindende Asymmetrieen, dann fiber die BlfitenSkologie der grSBten in Europa einheimischen ,,Blfite" (Blfitenstand yon Dracunculus craicus) nach Untersuehungen am natfirlichen Standort.
I, Uber zweim~nnige Bliiten bei Alpinia und ihr Zustandekommen.FRITZ ~V~ULLER land im ffahre 1884 in Blumenau an Alpinia-Pflanzen, die nach sp~terer Bestimmung mit Zweifel als Formen von Alp inia nutans bezeichnet wurden, Blfiten mit zwei, start normal einem Staubblatt, die EICHLER beschrieb, w~hrend einige Jahre sparer I~ff[J, ER selbst fiber die Anordnung dieser abnormen Blfiten an der Pflanze berichtete (l~IffLL]m 1888). Im Sommer 1929 wurde eine jedenfalls sehr ~hnliche Abweichung vonder Norm im GSttinger botanisehen Garten beobachtet und zwar an einer unbenannten Pflanze unbekannter Herkunft. Es war zum Tefl aus ~uBeren Grfinden nicht mSglich, die Art einwandfrei zu bestimmen, doeh diirfte sie ebenfalls dem Formenkreis der Alpinia nutans nahestehen.Trotzdem also die Beobachtung nicht ganz neu ist, scheint sie doch interessant genug, um darfiber zu berichten, zumal die Angaben yon 1KOLLER und EICHLER ziemlich kurz gehalten und schon vor fast 50 Jahren er-
