The purposes of this study are to analyze source of SME competitiveness in selected industry clusters in Indonesia and to develop a theoretical model of SME competitiveness. This study employs quantitative design with multivariate model. We develop three models of estimation by using multiple regression analysis. Our models are based on Porter Model of Competitiveness (1990) which contains factor condition, demand condition, related and supporting industries and business strategy. Findings in this study idenntify sources of the competitiveness of SME in the level of innovation, entrepreneurship, human capital, financial resources, potential market and business strategy. Limitation of this study lies in the SME model of competitiveness based on cross sectional data which is not feasible for analysis of the dynamic aspect of competitiveness sources. Our findings show that SMEs need government assistance to develop marketing networks and access to financial institutions.
This study aims to determine the effect of corporate governance on corporate financial performance which is moderated by company size. The population used is companies listed on the Indonesian stock exchange. The sample in this study amounted to 53 companies. The sampling technique uses MRA (moderated regression analysis). The results of this study indicate that (1) board of commissioner variables, audit committee variables, board of directors variables, company size variables affect company performance, (2) board of commissioners with company size as a moderating variable has no influence on company performance, (3) audit committee with company size as a moderating variable influences company performance, (4) variable of directors with company size as a moderating variable has no influence on company performance. For companies, the company should apply good corporate governance, so that company performance can be improved, and consider the size of the company assessed to see how much the company develops form of performance, the audit committee is assessed to see how much the company can be controlled and monitored its financial reporting so that no fraud and directors are assessed to see how much the company can run effectively. The board of commissioners is to function more optimally, not only as a fulfillment of regulations, because good corporate governance can be realized if the control function can run well. for future research it might be with the same theme, but by adding other variables that can strengthen the impact on company value.
Malaria remains one of the most devastating diseases, causing as many as 2.7 million deaths annually with an estimated 400 to 900 million new cases each year 1. Malaria endemic areas include Africa, South east asia, India and South America. However, the disease is spreading to new areas, such as Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Local transmission of malaria in the United States, unheard of in the era between World War II and 1980, now accounts for an increasing number of cases 2. Clinical cases in the US now average 1,300 per year 3. Worldwide, the majority of deaths occur in children; other high risk groups include pregnant women, refugees, migrant workers and non immune travelers-over 20 million Western tourists at risk annually (fact sheets from Malaria Foundation International). Although four species of the genus Plasmodium cause human malaria, Plasmodium falciparum is the deadliest and will be the subject of this review. During the past two decades an increasing number of quantitative structure-activity/property relationship (QSAR/ QSPR) models have been studied using theoretical molecular descriptors for predicting biomedical, activity, toxicological and technological properties of chemicals. QSAR/QSPR are mathematical models that seek to predict complicated physico
