This research aims to investigate character values that can be applied on students through congkak game as it is used as a media of mathematics learning. This study used qualitative and quantitative combination or (exploratory mixed methods designs). The first phase of qualitative data was taken through in-depth interviews to 5 selected informants using purposive sampling technique. All data interviews were analyzed thematically using NVivo qualitative analysis tool 10. Then, the second phase of the data was taken using a questionnaire to 46 students who were studying in grade V and VI in an elementary school (SD). The entire data of the second phase analyzed descriptively using quantitative analysis tools SPSS Windows 18.0. Overall, the results of the two phases indicated that there were nine character values contained in the game congkak once it was used as a medium of mathematics learning. The nine-character values were honesty, discipline, hard working, creativity, curiosity, independent, communicativeness, responsibility and appreciation for achievements. The results also proved that the use of instructional media such as traditional game congkak can be used as an intermediary that can be used by teachers in mathematics learning process.
Quatitative research education is type of educational research in wich the researcher decides what to study, ask specific, narrow question, collects numeric quiry in an unbiased, objective manner. Penelitian pendidikan kuantitatif: Pendekatan penelitian yang secara primer menggunakan paradigma pospositivist dalam mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan (seperti pemikiran tentang sebab akibat, reduksi kepada variabel, hipotesis dan pernyataan spesifik, menggunakan pengukuran dan observasi, serta pengujian teori), dan menggunakan pendekatan statistik untuk analisis data.
This study is aimed at analyzing the effect of Professional Education and Training for Teachers (PLPG) in improving pedagogic competence and teacher performance. The research used quantitative method through survey approach. The data was taken from 35 respondents using the training exam module and teacher performance instruments. All data were analyzed using software SPSS for Windows release 22.0 through both descriptive and correlation analysis. The result of descriptive analysis of teachers pedagogic competence after taking training test is good (83,74%). Furthermore, Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis shows that there is a significant negative correlation between these activities and teachers performance obtained (rcount) = -0.590 at 0.000 significance level. The results of the analysis show that teachers need to follow the training to improve their pedagogic competence as well as their performance in teaching and assessing. Since the teachers’ knowledge increases, it will definitely have an impact on their performance at school.
Artikel ini mengemukakan langah dan contoh dalam proses menyusun sintesis kepustakaan untuk dijadikan rujukan dalam penulisan artikel. Digunakan tiga langkah, diawali dengan menelusuri kepustakaan.Selanjutnya, menemukan ide utama setiap artikel. Terakhir menuliskan dengan gaya paraphrase, bukan dengan kutipan langsung. Dengan demikian, saat menuliskan artikel akan merujuk kepada ide-ide yang sudah dipublikasikan. Dalam bagian kedua, artikel ini juga mengemukakan contoh-contoh penyusunan sintesis dalam review literatur.
This study is aimed at exploring how to build family-based Islamic character in the Tablighi Jamaat community. As a qualitative study, the research was conducted by using an ethnographic approach. The data were collected through direct interviews with ten informants which are the heads of the family that belong to the Tablighi Jamaat community. Moreover, the researcher was also involved in some religious activities of the community for two years that the observation during the activities can be used to reinforce the result of the interviews. Those activities are Ijtima’ (annual gathering), Bayan Markas (sermon), Ta’lim Halaqah, Khuruj (proselytizing tour), Jaulah, and some informal visits to interviewees’ families. All data, both interviews and direct observation, were thematically analyzed by using specific software, namely NVivo 12. Based on the data it is found that there are five major Islamic characters could be developed through the family-based character building in the Jama’ah Tablghi community, namely: (1) good moral conduct to parents, (2) having a sense of shame to violate the shari’a, (3) behaving based on Islamic shari’a, (4) time punctuality, (5) good moral characters. Finally, the findings reveal that the building of family-based Islamic characters in the Tablighi Jamaat community contributes to the positive effects of children's Islamic characters in family and community.
Choosing a career as an Early Childhood Education Teacher is both challenging and joyful. Not everyone is interested in this profession except for those who have strong motivation. This study aims to identify students’ exact motivation to select the Early Childhood Education Department at Public University. This study uses combined qualitative and quantitative methods (exploratory mixed methods design). Sources of qualitative data were taken from twenty informants through in-depth interviews and analyzed using NVivo 10 analysis software, while sources of quantitative data were taken from a hundred correspondents and analyzed using SPSS 20 software. Both qualitative and quantitative data analyses showed that students have seven motivations to select the Early Childhood Education Department. Those seven motivations are: i) parents encouragement (81%); ii) job opportunities after graduation (83%); iii) loving kids (85%); iv) teaching is a noble profession (100%); self-will (70%); vi) the choice to be a teacher (76%); and vii) Early Childhood Education is not difficult, but joyful (80%). The study has successfully revealed seven students’ motivations for selecting the Early Childhood Education Department at Public University. This study’s results can be used as preliminary data for subsequent researchers to examine this problem in different contexts and issues. This study’s findings need to be continued by the next researcher by examining the correlation between motivational aspects with various other variables. However, this data can also be used as an initial reference for examining the issues and problems in different contexts.
Difficulty in understanding and applying physics concepts is a problem that is often encountered in learning. Therefore, problem-solving abilities are needed in physics learning. The ability to solve problems in physics learning is an ability that students must have to find solutions to a problem, especially in understanding and applying physics concepts. Problem-solving in physics learning is certainly better if teachers explain directly. However, in certain situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers cannot help students directly. In hybrid learning, face-to-face learning can still be done virtually. Research in the last 10 years publish through reputable journals in various countries in the word (Taiwan, Belgia, Jerman and Indonesia) were are analyzed for the purpose of this article with the help of NVIVO 12 Software. Results of the analysis from various articles found that hybrid learning is a learning model that can be used as an alternative to help students solve problems in physics learning. For this reason, hybrid learning needs to be given serious support for the current learning process and teachers need to be given special and continuous training in the use of this learning model the learning process can be carried out well even in difficult situations like today.
Abstract:The application of Integrated teaching materials in teaching and learning science is very important, to support students acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills and make the learning process more memorable. Teachers must be good at choosing methods and packaging the teaching materials well to attract students' learning interests. This study aims to examine the analysis of the development of integrated Science on Student Worksheet using the steps of cooperative methods of Student Teams Achievement Divisions type. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach (Multi-case single-site case study design). The data were collected through analytical documents and analyzed thematically with NVIVO 10 software. The results showed that the steps to develop integrated science on Student Worksheet using cooperative method of Student Teams Achievement Divisions are: (1) In Student Worksheet there must be motivation and apperception; (2) team building; (3) presentations from teachers; (4) learning activities in teams must be heterogeneous; (5) implementation of individual quizzes; (6) awarding. The results of this study are discussed with various results of previous research.
