Abstract. Indonesian new Curriculum for senior high school students required student-centered learning. One of the curriculum implementation constraint was the difficulty of providing learning media. PhET simulations media is one of the options that can help implementation of new curriculum on learning. However, the use of this media in Indonesia still needs to be studied comprehensively. The learning was conducted on students of physics education Study Program in sebelas maret university in 2013. The sample consisted of 62 students that was taking quantum physics course. The method that was used in the research was descriptive qualitative. The method that was used in learning was demonstration's method that used PhET media and accompanied by a question and answer and groups discussion. The data was collected using multiple choice test and interview through email. We found that any students still did not understand about photoelectric effect concept. They were confused when asked about the thick material and cross section of the targets as related with the regardless of electrons in the photoelectric effect event. Other than that, the concept of the waves as a particle and its relation with the kinetic energy of the electrons was not understood by most students.
Abstract. The research aims to develop Problem Based Learning material teaching of Mathematics Physics and to know the effect on the cognitive capability of undergraduate students. The research uses development method of Borg and Gall. There are ten steps such as data collection, planning, product drafting, pretest, pretest revise 1, main test, main test revise 2, posttest, final revision, and dissemination and implementation. The data collection uses questionnaire and cognitive test which will support the qualitative data. The result shows that the criterion of developing problem-based learning teaching materials is 5 level category when 43.33% respondents rate 5 level category and the others give 4 level category. Furthermore, students which use the materials increased and the most of the students have acquired cognitive value exceeds the value of minimum completeness criteria.
This paper introduced these Physics Educational Technology (PhET) Simulation and demonstrated their utility for Senior High School Students. The PhET simulations are very involved, interactive animated environments that create a unique opportunity for students. In each case, we demonstrate that discussion simulations are more productive, for developing student conceptual understanding for photo electric effect than traditional discussion without simulations. During the discussion with PhET simulation, students can construct their understanding about concepts photo electric effect within this framework. Students learn by building on their prior understanding through a series of constrained and supportives exploration. The simulations support an interactive approach and constrain students productively.
School-based management (MBS) has developed in Indonesia since 2000. It focuses on developing and improving quality of education by giving greater authority to school in making decisions together with all school members and local society. This research aims to determine the implementation of MBS in Surakarta junior high schools in 2020. The implementation studied is based on 7 (seven) components, they are of School-Based Curriculum and Learning Management, School-Based Students Management, School-Based Teachers and Education Staff Management, School-Based Facilities and Infrastructure Management, School-Based Financing Management, School-Based School and Community Relations Management, and School-Based Culture and Environment Management.Qualitative method is used in this study. Through a qualitative approach, the results for each MBS components described more deeply, to get the effectivity of implementation of MBS in Surakarta junior high schools.
ANALISIS SIKAP SISWA TERHADAP STEM BERDASARKAN GENDER DAN TINGKATAN KELAS: STUDI KOMPARASI INDONESIA DAN THAILANDAbstractAttitude is a tendency to behave and react to a given stimulus. The smoothness of STEM learning involves students, one of which is students' attitude towards STEM. Students at the junior high school level are a transitional period from children to adolescents who are not yet considered adulthood. Besides that, there is behavior stereotypical in male and female students during learning. This research was conducted to analyze students' attitudes towards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Indonesia and Thailand in terms of grade level and gender. The research method used is descriptive quantitative using a survey. This study used the STEM questionnaire distributed to 139 students in Thailand and 90 students in Indonesia. Data were collected using a questionnaire about students' attitudes towards STEM and interview protocols for science teachers. Analysis of student attitudes, which focused on self-confidence, enjoyment, interest, and anxiety, showed that these attitudes were more dominant among students at the highest grade level in both countries. However, there is no significant difference between the attitudes of male and female students in Indonesia and Thailand; both are the same in responding to STEM learning.
