Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand the dynamics of inclusive approaches to housing development programs directed at supporting low-income communities. Design/methodology/approach This study uses a mixed-methods approach by employing a combination of case study and survey methods, whereby the development process is studied through qualitative approaches and specific determinant comparisons of quantitative Z-tests. This study provides data from key informants: end-users (ten occupants), leaders of community-based organizations (2), and supporting non-governmental organizations (2). Findings These results indicate that an inclusive approach is more likely be able to provide low-income households with access to a variety of key resources that are identified as housing development priorities, particularly when compared with the supply-side approaches currently being promoted. Practical implications This study helps to encourage policymakers to think about more targeted and facilitative processes to meet the needs of public housing in Indonesia, a challenge that has resulted in ironic effects, and has not met the important challenges in providing access that is adequate for the people of Indonesia. Originality/value The current study provides data that provide evidence of positive value of inclusive approach to response the equitable issues in housing provision, particularly in Indonesia.
Competition in small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) is growing in the era of transition. As a result, these advances are putting pressure on the retail sector to find new and efficient solutions to boost retail and customer experience. Meanwhile, in Central Java, Indonesia, there is one specific SME type that is part of the nation's cultural heritage, namely Batik SME. This study aims to determine the effect of Intangible Assets and Innovation Orientation on the Competitive Advantages of Batik SMEs in Central Java, Indonesia. This study's method was an explanatory survey method with a type of decompression-verification study from primary data obtained from Batik SMEs and using PLS SEM in analyzing the data of the book. The results of this study indicate that Intangible Assets with Path coefficient (β) = 0.320, P value <0.001 (<α = 0.05), and Innovation Orientation with Path coefficient (β) = 0.28 P value <0.038 (<α = 0.05), have a positive effect on Competitive Advantage with coefficient (β) = 0.46, P value <0.001 (<α = 0.05). This result means that the better Intangible Assets would improve the Batik SME Competitive Advantage. Besides, the Orientation owned by Batik SME would increase the Competitive Advantage. Batik SME in Central Java should improve the quality of their Intangible Asset and Innovation Orientation to increase their Competitive Advantage.
Nowadays, employee is considered essential in an organization. The active role of the employee should be concerned by practitioners and academicians. This study aimed to investigate the antecedent and consequent variables of employee engagement.Distributive justice, absorptive capacity, and job design were believed as the antecedent factors influencing work engagement. Meanwhile, organizational citizenship behavior was believed as the consequent or output factor of employee engagement. The respondents were 134 employees of SMEs in Central Java, Indonesia.The results showed that distributive justice and absorptive capacity influenced employee engagement, whereas job design had no significant influence on employee engagement. Moreover, employee engagement had an effect on organizational citizenship behavior.
This study aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial knowledge on creative attitudes of creative economy sub-sector Small Medium Enterprises in Kendal sub-district in the context of creative economic development. The population in this study were 129 Micro Small Medium Enterprises in the creative industry subsector. The total sample in this study was as many as 33 Micro Small Medium Enterprises in the creative industry sub-sector. The results of this study indicate that entrepreneurial knowledge has a positive and significant influence on the creative attitude of creative economy sub-sector Micro Small Medium Enterprises in Kendal sub-district, Central Java City, Indonesia.
This study was conducted to explore the relationship between work-family supportive supervisor, career competencies, job involvement, and job satisfaction. Data were collected from a sample of 162 respondents who worked as a nurse at hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. This study used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine and estimate the relationship between the constructs. The study results indicate that work-family supportive supervisor has a positive and significant impact on career competencies, career competencies have a positive and significant impact on job involvement, and on job satisfaction. Work-family supportive supervisor has a positive and significant impact on job involvement and on job satisfaction. A total of 162 respondents with a percentage of 96.30% women showed that women need good support and policies in achieving a balance between work and family. Finally, this study highlights the importance of work-family supportive supervisor and career competencies for improving job involvement and job satisfaction. This study provides insights on how the human resources department can retain qualified staff and develop employee satisfaction.
Management as a science used in organizational operations, especially in the human resources management. Through management, the goals of the organization are planned, organized, actuated and controlled so the results are expected to meet expectations. In practice, humans as the subject as well as the object of human resources turned out to do a lot of negative behavior that affect the work. Ethics is an important thing in society including for the organization because it contains values that will encourage a person to work optimally and always accompanied by an umbrella of conscience. The result of the study is a conceptual framework to provide an understanding of the use of Islamic work ethics for organizations in Indonesia which the population majority are Moslems. Islamic Work Ethics is the answer that can be used to guide the positive behavior of workers. Furthermore, Conceptual framework, theoretical and practical implications which proposed in the present study will be used as future references for those who are interesting in the work ethics, human resource and its relationship related existing variables.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of time demands of work on job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention of employees of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk. Branch Harapan Indah, Bekasi (PT BTN Harapan Indah). Census methodology was applied using the total populations of PT BTN Harapan Indah with 108 populations. However, only 85 of the amount responded. The data were analyzed using path analysis with Smart PLS 2.0.M3. It was found that time demands of work did not have significant impact on turnover intention. Furthermore, time demands of work did not have significant effect on job satisfaction. On the other hand, job satisfaction negatively and significantly influenced turnover intention. Job satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between time demands of work and turnover intention. Time demands of work positively and significantly influenced job stress. Job stress positively and significantly influenced turnover intention. Job stress successfully mediated the relationship between time demands of work and turnover intention. Job stress negatively and significantly influenced job satisfaction. At last, job satisfaction successfully mediated the relationship between job stress and turnover intention. The results were obtained from 85 respondents in a branch of a banking company. The findings provide a better understanding of employee job stress and turnover intention through analyzing the time demands of work.
