The article presents the results of a survey on dictionary use in Europe, focusing on general monolingual dictionaries. The survey is the broadest survey of dictionary use to date, covering close to 10,000 dictionary users (and non-users) in nearly thirty countries. Our survey covers varied user groups, going beyond the students and translators who have tended to dominate such studies thus far. The survey was delivered via an online survey platform, in language versions specific to each target country. It was completed by 9,562 respondents, over 300 respondents per country on average. The survey consisted of the general section, which was translated and presented to all participants, as well as country-specific sections for a subset of 11 countries, which were drafted by collaborators at the national level. The paper is based on a survey conducted within the framework of the basic research project Collocations as a Basis for Language Description: Semantic and Temporal Perspectives (KOLOS; J6-8255). It presents a qualitative analysis of a user evaluation of the interface of the Collocations Dictionary of Modern Slovene (CDS). It discusses an alternative perspective—the user's point of view—on problematic aspects of individual dictionary features, which require further lexicographic analysis and discussion. The collocations user study presents a model of the process of user evaluation; its findings are significant primarily for determining problems encountered by users. They also serve as a useful basis for methodology improvements in future, comparable lexicographic user studies and analyses.
Despite the unquestionable academic interest on corpus-based approaches
to language education, the use of corpora by teachers in their everyday
practice is still not very widespread. One way to promote usage of corpora
in language teaching is by making pedagogically appropriate corpora,
labelled with different types of problems (for instance, sensitive content,
offensive language, structural problems), so that teachers can select
authentic examples according to their needs. Because manually labelling
corpora is extremely time-consuming, we propose to use crowdsourcing for
this task. After a first exploratory phase, we are currently developing a
multimode, multilanguage game in which players first identify problematic
sentences and then classify them.
Projekt sta financirala Ministrstvo za kulturo RS in Javna agencije za raziskovalno dejavnost RS.Ker gre za zelo pomembno tematiko, ki je neposredno povezana s skorajšnjim iztekom Resolucije o Nacionalnem programu za jezikovno politiko [2014][2015][2016][2017][2018] (ter posledično pripravo nove), in ker dikcija ankete (dalje Anketa o slovenščini) na več mestih zbuja pomisleke o rezultatih, ki jih bo dala, smo se člani ožjega uredniškega odbora revije Slovenščina 2.0 skupaj s tukajšnjimi soavtorji odločili za pisni odziv. V prispevku prikazujemo analizo luščenja eno- in večbesednih terminoloških kandidatov, ki smo ga izvedli za potrebe priprave terminološke podatkovne zbirke odnosov z javnostmi na podlagi korpusa KoRP z luščilnikom LUIZ. Podrobneje se posvečamo dvojemu: (a) izluščenim enobesednim samostalniškim terminološkim kandidatom, katerih seznam primerjamo s pogostostnim seznamom samostalnikov v korpusu KoRP in vrednotimo glede na terminološkost, kot sta jo prepoznala dva področna strokovnjaka, ter (b) izluščenim večbesednim nizom z glagolskim in samostalniškim jedrom. Nadgrajeno metodo luščenja in izboljšan prikaz rezultatov smo dopolnili še z analizo priklica. Potrdili oz. ugotovili smo, da je v primerjavi s pogostostnim seznamom terminološki potencial enot v zgornjem delu seznama izluščenih samostalnikov večji, da imajo izluščeni glagolski besedni nizi predvsem kolokacijsko vrednost, ne pa tudi terminološke, in da so najbolj terminološko produktivni vzorci luščenja samostalniških zvez z naslednjo zgradbo: [pridevnik + samostalnik], [pridevnik + in + pridevnik + samostalnik] ter [pridevnik + pridevnik + samostalnik]. Analiza priklica je pokazala predvsem nizko stopnjo strinjanja med obema področnima strokovnjakoma, sicer pa je bil priklic razmeroma visok.
Center za jezikovne vire in tehnologije (CJVT) je interdisciplinarna raziskovalna enota Univerze v Ljubljani, katere glavni namen je vzpostavljati in vzdrževati digitalne jezikovne vire in jezikovnotehnološka orodja za sodobni slovenski jezik. Med ciljnimi uporabniki izdelkov, ki vključujejo besedilne korpuse, odzivne slovarje in orodja za podporo pisanju v slovenščini, je tudi učiteljska skupnost, ki vire in orodja uporablja na področju jezikovnega izobraževanja. V prispevku pregledno predstavimo tiste vire in orodja CJVT, ki so za izobraževalne namene še posebej relevantni, nato pa umestimo učiteljice in učitelje kot pomembne sodelujoče v dveh kontekstih: pri uporabniških raziskavah in evalvacijah posameznih izdelkov ter pri usposabljanjih za rabo nove digitalne jezikovne infrastrukture pri predmetih, ki jih poučujejo. Prispevek sklenemo z napovedjo rezultatov, ki trenutno nastajajo v nacionalnem projektu Razvoj slovenščine v digitalnem okolju in bodo omogočili nadaljnji razvoj učnih gradiv in izdelkov, relevantnih za izobraževalno rabo.
