ObjectiveTo evaluate the effectiveness of a program designed to reduce back pain in nursing aides. Methods Female nursing aides from a university hospital who had suffered episodes of back pain for at least six months were included in the study. Participants were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group. The intervention program involved a set of exercises and an educational component stressing the ergonomic aspect, administered twice a week during working hours for four months. All subjects answered a structured questionnaire and the intensity of pain was assessed before and after the program using a visual analogue scale (VAS). Student's t-test or the Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test for independent samples, and Chi-square test or the Exact Fisher test for categorical analysis, were used. The McNemar test and the Wilcoxon matched pairs test were used to compare the periods before and after the program. ResultsThere was a statistically significant decrease in the frequency of cervical pain in the last two months and in the last seven days in the intervention group. There was also a reduction in cervical pain intensity in the two periods (2 months, 7 days) and lumbar pain intensity in the last 7 days. ConclusionsThe results suggest that a program of regular exercise with an emphasis on ergonomics can reduce musculoskeletal symptoms in nursing personnel. Resumo Objetivo
Aims. We used the UVES spectrograph (VLT-UT2 telescope) to obtain high-resolution spectra of 6 stars hosting transiting planets, namely for OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132, and TrES-1. These spectra are now used to derive and discuss the chemical abundances for C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn. Methods. Abundances were derived in LTE, using 1D plane-parallel Kurucz model atmospheres. For S, Zn, and Cu, we used a spectral synthesis procedure, while for the remaining cases the abundances were derived from measurements of line-equivalent widths. Results. The resulting abundances were compared with those found for stars in the solar neighborhood. Distances and galactic coordinates were estimated for the stars. We conclude that, besides being particularly metal-rich and with small possible exceptions, OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132, and TrES-1 are chemically undistinguishable from the field (thin disk) stars regarding their [X/Fe] abundances. This is particularly relevant for the most distant of the targets, located up to ∼2 kpc from the Sun. We also did not find any correlation between the abundances and the condensation temperature of the elements, evidence that strong accretion of planetary-like material, tentatively connected to planetary migration, did not occur.
In this article are analysed the current processes and dynamics of intervention in the peri-urban space object of greater transformations, namely the areas closest and farthest to the centre. Through the characterization and analysis of representative case studies, it aims to understand how the diferent types of ongoing intervention relate to the socio-spatial phenomena of segregation and exclusion. These phenomena reveal themselves complex and multifaceted, subject to diferent levels of understanding and intensity, depending on the speciicity of the territories, the processes that transform them and the aspirations and perceptions of the actors involved.
To identify the mean normal length of the metatarsals and the most common metatarsal formulas through a simple measurement method, thereby providing surgeons with data for planning treatment on symptomatic individuals with biometric abnormalities of the foot. Methods: We evaluated and measured dorsoplantar weight-bearing radiographs of normal adult feet (83 males and 83 females). Results: We found relative mean lengths for metatarsus I of 125.4 mm for males and 115.1 mm for females; for metatarsus II, 127.8 mm for males and 117.3 mm for females; for metatarsus III, 123.4 mm for males and 113.5 mm for females; for metatarsus IV, 114.2 mm for males and 105.3 mm for females; for metatarsus V, 99.5 mm for males and 91.7 mm for females. The mean forefoot width was 87.1 mm for males and 80.8 mm for females. Conclusion: Feet with index minus occurred most frequently in both sexes, although all three metatarsal formulas can be considered to be normal patterns. The mean normal pattern for males and females respectively was the following: metatarsus I 2.4 mm and 2.2 mm shorter than metatarsus II; metatarsus III 4.4 mm and 3.8 mm shorter than metatarsus II; metatarsus IV 9.2 mm and 8.2 mm shorter than metatarsus III; metatarsus V 14.7 mm and 13.6 mm shorter than metatarsus IV.

Cidade neoliberal.
