While physical activity can be one of the daily supports for good health that can help the educational process, the present study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and academic achievement. It was quantitative correlational research involving 1045 students from 21 elementary schools (ESs) selected through proportional random sampling. Physical activity was measured by using the Assessment of Physical Activity Levels Questionnaire (APALQ), and academic achievement was investigated through the average scores of the previous semester's report card. The study revealed three categories of physical activity, namely ‘very active’, ‘moderately active’, and ‘inactive’. Less than 30 ES students (3%) were reported ‘very active’, 460 students (44%) were ‘moderately active’, and more than half (53%) were ‘inactive’. With a percentage of 33%, the overall average result of physical activity gained was 348, meaning that the average increase fell within the moderate range. While having a sig. value greater than 0.05 (0.529), the study suggests that there is no significant correlation between physical activity and academic performance. The study's weak correlation coefficient of 0.020 involves drawing the inference that there is no discernable relationship between physical activity and academic achievement on elementary school students.
Translation plays greater role in recent time. This phenomenon especially occurs in efforts of bridging meanings and expressions across two different languages or more. In such effort, certainly there should be good understanding toward both the source language and the target language. Unfortunately, the bridge often cannot be constructed well due to the problems of non-equivalence. Therefore, throughout the study the researchers would like to elaborate the techniques that might be used for constructing the bridge between the two languages and the problems that occur during the translation project. In conducting the study, the researchers would strive to translate a copy of presidential decree by applying the selected techniques and by analysing the problems that might appear. The copy of presidential decree had been selected because the copy might not have been available in other languages especially in English. In addition, foreign people and institutions need to learn the decree since they might be doing business that has been associated to the energy in Indonesia. During the study, the researchers applied three techniques and found four problems during the translation project. As conclusion, the researchers found that the three translation techniques have been supporting one to another and the translation problems have been related to the Indonesian culture since the language and culture are inseparable.
Research on experiential meaning breadth of bilingual analysis is rarely performed. The research aims at describing (1) the experiential meaning breadth variations of Alice in Wonderland English- Bahasa Indonesia movie texts, (2) the contextual factors that motivate the occurrence of meaning and realization variations, and (3) the contextual effects of the meaning and realization variations in question on the context in reference to the target readers of the texts. The research used descriptive qualitative approach to make the interpretation and the research findings. The data were taken from Alice in Wonderland (2010) movie texts then measured and validated in terms of quantitative research then analyzed through several steps: classifying the data into realized and unrealized expressions, classifying the data into the categories or degrees of variations, classifying the higher degree of each clause compared, giving number of clauses and their process type, contrasting each analysis result, and drawing conclusions. Research results indicate that the most prominent degree of experiential meaning breadth variations falls into the “lowest” category of variation with 57.54%. This means that the Target Text is closely related to the Source Text and/ or the translator of Target Text applied source- based translation as regards experiential meaning breadth complexity. It is also strengthened by the average degree in each of the analysis falling in “very low” category. The contextual factors that motivate the occurrence of the variations consist of inter- textual and situational context (field, mode, and tenor). The contextual effects in reference to the target readers are related to two aspects; the readability and the purpose of creating the texts. The Target Text is readable for the target readers of the text, target readers feel entertained by interpreting the text. The purpose for creating the Target Texts is for education and gives effects for the target readers to enrich their vocabularies and improve their English skills.
Old age is human's final development stage. Aging in old age will bring consequences in deteriorating functions and increased prevalence of degenerative diseases in the elderly. To keep being productive, elderly people need to know about the importance of physical activities, anthropometric measurements, and physical fitness. The objective of the present study is to obtain data on anthropometric measurements, including waist size, hip circumference and waist size to hip circumference ratio and fitness status in the elderly population using 6 minutes walk. The present study is an observational analytical study performed using a cross sectional approach. The sampling used consecutive sampling method.
Due to numbers of graduated alumni each years, a tracer study is required in order to understand the job absorption and to evaluate the performance of each study program. The advantage of tracer study is not only limited to the interest of university. It could also useful to give important information regarding the link between the world of education and the corporate world. Tracer study is capable to give a detailed information regarding the work suitability in either horizontally (between various disciplines) or vertically (between various level of education). Therefore, tracer study is beneficial to overcome the problem of job opportunity gap and to give the solution for the problem. Information regarding relevant competence in corporate world could potentially help creating a better curriculum and learning system for university. According to the data, there are 1 foreign student (0.66%) from University of Burundi Institute of Physical Education and Sports, and 151 domestic students (99.33%) with the 59.1% majority (90 Students) are Yogyakarta State University bachelor's degree graduates who choose to continue their master's study in Faculty of Sport Science Yogyakarta State University, while 40.79% (62 Students) of them coming from other university. This data shows the high rate of Yogyakarta Tate University bachelor's degree graduates who choose to continue their master's study. 110 students (72.36%) have work in various profession when continue their master's degree while 27.63% of them (42 Students) have not acquire a job. According to the data, there are various profession occupied by different numbers of students of master's degree program of Sport Science study program of Faculty of Sport Science Yogyakarta State University. Based on the data, 36.18 % (55 Student) work as a teacher, 33.55 % (51 Students) work as university lecturer, 15.13 % (23 students) works in unrelated field, 5.92 % (9 students) work as entrepreneur, 4.61 % (7 students) work as professional coach, 2.63 % (4 students) work as sport consultant, 1.32 % (2 students) work as sports therapy expert, and 0.66 % (1 students) works as a professional trainer.
