ChemInform Abstract Hydrolysis of a mixture of Bi(OEt)3 and WO(OEt)4 in an ethanolic solution affords directly crystalline complex oxide phases (containing up to 35 mol% of WO3). Solid solutions with a face-centered cubic structure, which occur between 20 and 35 mol% WO3 crystallize already at 20 rc C. The ferroelectric Bi2WO6 crystallizes from an amorphous matrix in one stage after short term thermal work-up at 450 rc C. The investigated powders have a high sinterability which lowers the temp. necessary for the preparation of the ceramics. The alkoxo method is shown to be superior to the solid-phase synthesis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
