RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a imagem de ultrassonografia do movimento de língua durante a produção de oclusivas alveolares e velares, pré e pós-terapia de fala. Um menino com cinco anos de idade e diagnóstico de desvio fonológico, apresentando o processo de anteriorização de oclusivas velares, participou da presente pesquisa. Foram coletados os dados articulatórios (imagem de ultrassom do movimento de língua) e perceptivo auditivo dos fones [t], [d], [k] e [g], antes e após 25 sessões de terapia. Quanto aos resultados obtidos no momento pré-terapia, aparentemente, foi detectada uma indiferenciação gestual ao serem observadas as três repetições da curva de língua das oclusivas velares, sugerindo a presença de uma dependência entre os articuladores de ponta e corpo de língua. No momento pós-terapia, uma mudança na configuração do gesto de língua de [k] e [g] foi verificada. As curvas passaram a apresentar uma posteriorização do movimento de língua, sincronicamente com uma elevação do seu corpo, concordando com o padrão adulto. Dessa forma, os achados de ultrassonografia foram capazes de evidenciar uma possível superação da estratégia de anteriorização de oclusivas velares, detectada em análise perceptiva auditiva inicial. Além disso, estes resultados pareceram reforçar a ideia de contrastes encobertos na fala de crianças com desvio fonológico.
OBJETIVO: comparar os valores de voice onset time (VOT) de fonemas plosivos, produzidos por crianças com desvio fonológico e dificuldade na produção do contraste de sonoridade, classificados como surdos e sonoros a partir de uma análise perceptivo auditiva. MÉTODO: participaram do estudo cinco meninos com desvio fonológico e dificuldade no estabelecimento do traço [+voz] das plosivas. Por meio de pares de palavras (['papa], ['baba], ['tata], ['dada], ['kaka] e ['gaga]) inseridas em frases-veículo, extraiu-se o VOT de cada plosiva. Com base na mesma amostra de fala, foi realizada por três fonoaudiólogas, uma análise perceptivo auditiva, na qual deveriam julgar os referidos fonemas como surdos ou sonoros. Os valores do VOT dos fonemas classificados como surdos foram comparados com os valores de VOT dos fonemas classificados como sonoros utilizando-se testes estatísticos. RESULTADOS: verificou-se diferença estatisticamente significante somente entre os valores de VOT julgados como surdos ou sonoros de [p, d, g] em onset inicial, assim como, entre os três pontos articulatórios. As demais variáveis analisadas não mostraram significância estatística. CONCLUSÃO: de maneira geral, constatou-se que o VOT não é uma pista determinante para a percepção da distinção da sonoridade dos casos desviantes. No entanto, esta pista mostrou exercer influência na discriminação dos fonemas de acordo com o ponto articulatório, também no desvio fonológico. A partir da análise acústica observou-se que: (a) a presença de pré-sonoridade influencia no julgamento da consoante como sonora; (b) a duração do VOT positivo não é decisiva para a distinção de sonoridade e (c) um VOT nulo, na sua maioria, é responsável pela identificação de uma plosiva sonora.
PURPOSE: To present recent studies that used the ultrasound in the fields of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, which evidence possibilities of the applicability of this technique in different subareas. RESEARCH STRATEGY: A bibliographic research was carried out in the PubMed database, using the keywords "ultrasonic," "speech," "phonetics," "Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences," "voice," "deglutition," and "myofunctional therapy," comprising some areas of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences. The keywords "ultrasound," "ultrasonography," "swallow," "orofacial myofunctional therapy," and "orofacial myology" were also used in the search. SELECTION CRITERIA: Studies in humans from the past 5 years were selected. In the preselection, duplicated studies, articles not fully available, and those that did not present direct relation between ultrasound and Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences were discarded. DATA ANALYSIS: The data were analyzed descriptively and classified subareas of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences. The following items were considered: purposes, participants, procedures, and results. RESULTS: We selected 12 articles for ultrasound versus speech/phonetics subarea, 5 for ultrasound versus voice, 1 for ultrasound versus muscles of mastication, and 10 for ultrasound versus swallow. Studies relating "ultrasound" and "Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences" in the past 5 years were not found. CONCLUSION: Different studies on the use of ultrasound in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Sciences were found. Each of them, according to its purpose, confirms new possibilities of the use of this instrument in the several subareas, aiming at a more accurate diagnosis and new evaluative and therapeutic possibilities.
OBJETIVOS: Verificar a existência de relação entre o uso da estratégia de alongamento compensatório e diferentes gravidades do desvio fonológico classificado quantitativa e qualitativamente. Além disso, verificar a existência de correspondência entre a gravidade do desvio fonológico nas duas classificações utilizadas no estudo. MÉTODOS: Participaram da pesquisa 20 crianças com diagnóstico de desvio fonológico apresentando diferentes gravidades e com idades entre cinco e dez anos. Os desvios foram classificados de maneira quantitativa e qualitativa. O uso da estratégia estudada foi identificado com o auxílio da análise acústica, através do software de áudio-processamento (PRAAT). Os dados coletados foram analisados estatisticamente por meio do teste Qui-quadrado. RESULTADOS: O estudo comparativo entre as gravidades do desvio fonológico, segundo as classificações quantitativa e qualitativa, não mostrou diferença estatisticamente significante entre os grupos no que se refere à estratégia de alongamento compensatório. Através da análise descritiva da distribuição dos sujeitos conforme a gravidade do desvio fonológico nas duas classificações, verificou-se correspondência entre as classificações quantitativa e qualitativa no que diz respeito à gravidade do desvio fonológico. CONCLUSÃO: Não houve relação entre o uso da estratégia de alongamento compensatório e as diferentes gravidades do desvio fonológico. A distribuição dos sujeitos por gravidade do desvio fonológico, segundo as classificações utilizadas, permitiu visualizar uma correspondência entre os dois tipos de classificações do desvio.
OBJETIVO: Investigar se as crianças com desvio fonológico apresentam características acústicas distintas de sons plosivos surdos e sonoros das crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico. MÉTODOS:Participaram do estudo 11 crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico e cinco com desvio fonológico e dificuldade na aquisição do traço [+voz] das consoantes plosivas. Por meio de palavras (['papa], ['baba], ['tata], ['dada], ['kaka] e ['gaga]) inseridas em frases-veículo, mediu-se o voice onset time, a duração da vogal, a amplitude do burst e a duração da oclusão de cada plosivo. Foram comparados todos os registros acústicos de plosivos surdos e sonoros intra e intergrupo, por meio de testes estatísticos. RESULTADOS: As crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico apresentaram resultados significativos, principalmente, na diferenciação dos parâmetros de voice onset time, duração da vogal e oclusão de plosivos surdos e sonoros, diferentemente do observado para as crianças com desvio fonológico. A comparação entre os dois grupos mostrou diferenças quanto à produção de voice onset time e duração da oclusão dos plosivos sonoros. Com relação aos demais parâmetros analisados, os valores foram aproximados entre os grupos, sem diferença estatística. CONCLUSÃO: A marcação do contraste de sonoridade do grupo desviante mostra-se distinta em relação ao grupo de crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico, principalmente no que se refere ao voice onset time e à duração da oclusão dos segmentos sonoros.
