Objective: The current study aims to determine total flavonoid content (TFC), total phenolic content (TPC), and total carotenoid content (TCC) of ethanolic extract of Purslane (Portulaca oleraceae L.). Material and Method: Herb of Purslane (Portulaca oleraceae L.) was extracted using ethanol. Determination of total flavonoid content (TFC), total phenolic content (TPC), and total carotenoid content (TCC) The method used spectrophotometer UV-VIS by the used standard curve to compare the total content by linear regression calculation. Result: The results of this study demonstrated the TPC, TFC, and TCC value was 2.00 mg HE/g DW, 0.53 mg EQ/g DW, 128 mg GAE/g DW, respectively. For anti-obesity, a 200 mg/kg BW sample group had the greatest percentage decrease compared to the other groups (21.868%). Conclusion: This study showed that Purslane is a good source of flavonoids, phenolic, and carotenoids. Meanwhile, the ethanol extract of this plant has prospect potential as anti-obesity.
Portulaca oleracea L. is one of the plants empirically used as medicine and contains flavonoid compounds assumed to have an immunomodulatory effect. The research aimed to determine the immunomodulatory effect of ethanol extract of Portulaca oleracea L by Delayed Type Hypersensitivity parameter. The research used 20 male rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into 5 groups where each group consisted of 4. Group I as a normal group (without treatment), group II (NaCMC control), group III, IV and V (treatment groups) were given EEHK with doses of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, and 400 mg/kg BW doses. The dosage form was orally given for 7 days. On day 3, the rats were induced with SDMD antigen 10% v/v by intraperitonial and intraplantar on day 7. The observations were conducted by measuring the volume change of the rat's feet at the 4th, 24th, and 48th hours using a pletismometer. The research data obtained were statistically processed using Paired Samples T Test, One-Way Anova and Post Hoc LSD tests. The results of the research showed that the ethanol extract of common purslane was effective as an immunomodulator.
Common purslane (Portulace Oleracea L.) has a compound of omega-3, flavonoid and ascorbic acid with the activity in decreasing triglyceride levels. This study aimed to determine the minimum dose of ethanol extract of common purslane against the decrease of triglyceride levels of obese mice. It used 18 rats fed highcalorie diet (HCD) for 30 days. The obese rats were devided into 6 groups consisting of group I of negative controls (Na.CMC ), group II of positive control (gemfibrozil®), group III,IV,V,VI provided the ethanol extract of common purslane (EECP) with 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, 75 mg/kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW. Afterwards, 14 days of therapy were given and still fed a high-calorie (HCD). The measurement of triglyceride levels is performed before induction (early). After induction , and after therapy. The data of the study were analized by percentage decrease of each test group. The result show that the EECP groups of 75 mg/kgBW was the minimum dose in lowering triglyceride levels with a decrease of 16,49 %.
