Sappan wood contains brazilin compounds that acts as antioxidants to inhibit the cholesterol synthesis, so it is efficacious hypolipidemic. It has been conducted the research on hypolipidemic effect assay of ethanol extract of sappan wood against male wistar rats. This research aims to determine the hypolipidemic effect from the ethanol extract of sappan wood based on a decrease in cholesterol content of rats. This research used 15 male rats were divided into 5 groups. Group I (control) was given suspension Na. CMC 1%, group II (comparator) was given simvastatin, the groups III, IV, and V were given ethanol extract of sappan wood at a dose 75 mg/kgbw, 150 mg/kgbw, and 300 mg/kgbw. All provisions were done orally once a day for 14 days. Cholesterol content measurements were done at the beginning of cholesterol before induction, after induction and after treatment. Before treatment rats were induced with propylthiouracil 0.01% and high cholesterol diet. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the sappan wood has a hypolipidemic effect and a dose 300 mg/kgbw was not significantly different (p > 0.05) with simvastatin.
It has been conducted the research on Assay of Antibacterial Activity of Ethanolic Extract of Wuluh Starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) The aim of this research is to determine the antibacterial activity. The initial screening assay conducted on several bacteria including Escheria coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, Vibrio cholerae, Shigella dysenteriae. Then, assay on the Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) was carried out with some variations of concentration: 0,05%; 0,1%; 0,2%; 0,4%; 0,8%; and 1,6%. Test result of MIC was then followed by MKC test (Minimum Kill Concentration) using NA medium. The results showed that on concentration 0,4%; 0,8%; and 1,6% inhibit the growth of bacteria tested. Antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) was conducted by using the diffusion agat method. The result showed that the lowest concentration 0,4% ethanolic extract of wuluh starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) inhibit the growth of bacteria Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholerae, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
Johar leaf has been empirically used as malaria and hepatitis medicine. This research aims to determine hepatoprotective effect of ethanol extract of Johar leaves (Cassia siamea Lamk.) of rats liver. This research used 15 tested rats divided into 5 groups, group I was given Na.CMC 1% (negative control), group II ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 50 mg/kgBB, group III ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 250 mg/kgBB, group IV ethanolic extract of Johar leaves of 500 mg/kgBB, and group V as a comparison given suspension curliv ® of 42,86 mg/kgBB. Giving suspension curliv ® was orally done once a day for 7 days. On the 8th day, the experimental rats were given paracetamol suspension dosage of 2,5 g/kgBB. Measurements of SGPT content was done before therapy (normal), after therapy, and after administration of paracetamol. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Johar leaves with the dose of 50; 250; 500 mg/kgBB have a hepatoprotective effect and dose is 500 mg/kgBB which was not statistically significantly different from curliv ® .
Test Antioxidant Activity of Dutch eggplant (Solanum betaceum Cav.) with FRAP method. This study aims to measure and determine the antioxidant activity Dutch eggplant (Solanum betceum Cav.) with FRAP method. Dutch eggplant was analyzed qualitatively by using the metod FRAP with FRAP reagent. Quantitatively mix with the sample solution was analyzed by FRAP method Uv-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength 596 nm. By using trolox as a reference standard. The results obtained in this research that Dutch eggplant has antioxidant activity with an total value of antioxidant activity, 0,9353 µmol Trolox/gr sample.
Radical scavenging activity of diethyl ether fraction from sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) using DPPH.The of research aims is determine the radical scavenging activity of sea lettuce tree based on the binding of free radical DPPH. Was conducted the research on test radical scavenging activity of sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) and then compared with the radical scavenging activity Vitamin C. Five thousand grams of sea lettuce tree (Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb.) extraced by maceration using ethanol. Dry ethanol extract was partitioned with solid-liquid partition, using diethyl ether and then tested for activity and was obtained radical scavenging IC 50 value 27,06 µg/mL.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
