The research was intended to describe the use of Simalungun taboo words across times in Simalungun (1930-2021). The language of Simalungun is spoken by people living outside the district of Simalungun, North of Sumatera and other people. This research was carried out in a multi-case descriptive qualitative design. Descriptual qualitative research design was defined as a social science research approach that emphasised the collection, use of inductive thinking and understanding of descriptive data in natural environments. While multi case is defined as a study which is using two or more subjects, settings, or depositories of data (Bogdan & Biklen, 1982). Documentation, interviews and observations of participants were used to collect data on linguistic taboos. The data sources were collected from 45 informants of different ages (1930-2021) and sexes who reside in Pematangsiantar, Pematangraya and Saribudolok. After having analyzed the collected data, the research finding showed that there were 62 words out of 106 the taboo words of ten categories: sexual organ, sexual activity, cursing, swearing, calling people, action, disease, dwelling ghost and name of God which were used stably across time (from 1930 to 2021) in Simalungun are 62 words, out of 106 words.
This community service aims to improve and develop knowledge related to the Pancasila Student Profile program for educators and students. The Pancasila Student Profile Program is one of the Independent Learning programs launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture, which removes the National Examination and is replaced with a Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) where one component of the AKM is a character survey which is a selected aspect of the six elements of the Pancasila Student Profile, namely faith. Moreover, pious to TYME and have a noble character, global diversity, cooperation, independence, critical and creative reasoning. The objectives of this socialization activity are: 1) Educators and students get to know the Pancasila Student Profile; 2) Educators are willing to implement the Pancasila Student Profile Program through habituation, coaching, and online learning; 3) Educators can implement the Pancasila Student Profile Program through habituation, coaching and online learning; 4) Educators prepare students to face AKM, especially character surveys; and 5) Achieved student Wellbeing
Language always refers to communication where spoken and written texts are dominated in human’s life. Communication does not always mean verbal but it is also can be visual. Visual (pictures, gestures, photos, advertisement, and so on) also means text and can deliver message as communication to others. Like verbal, visual also has structures how it delivers the message to audience. Advertisements are the visual objects that human always see for they are dominating in television. The purpose of this research is to investigate the structures of advertisement of Ertiga car. Theories to be used are Kress (2009) and Cheong (2004). Descriptive qualitative was conducted in this research. The source data was the advertisement of a car from Suzuki, Ertiga. After analyzing the data, the researchers found that verbal components (Announcement, Enhancer, Emblem, Tag, Cal-and-visit information) and visual components (Lead, Display and Emblem) were inserted in the advertisement of Ertiga. It means that the advertisement of Ertiga is made in a good way where the purpose of advertisement is to persuade the audience to buy the product. In short, the structures of the advertisement determine the quality of the product.
