To reduce false-negative rates (FNR) in sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) of clinically positive (cN+) axilla in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The removal of three or more lymph nodes with dual-tracer mapping including a radioisotope was used. However, in the Brazilian Unified Health System, the radioisotope tracer is not feasible in some hospitals. We conducted a crosssectional study to evaluate the detection rate of sentinel lymph node (SLN) in patients who converted from cN+ to ycN0 after NAC using blue dye as a single-agent mapping tracer. Methods: During the period of March 2018 to September 2019, 34 patients who underwent NAC with cN+ who converted to ycN0 were enrolled in the study. The SLNB was performed using blue dye as a single-agent mapping followed by axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). Results: The detection rate of sentinel lymph node was of 85.3%, being SLNB not possible for five patients (14.7%), due to fibrosis. The mean number of removed SLN was 2.5. Conclusions: The use of blue dye as a single-agent mapping tracer demonstrated an acceptable detection rate of 85.3%. Although the FNR was possible to be determined, the small sample size might overestimate this rate. The removal of three or more lymph nodes with single-agent mapping tracer might be indicated for breast cancer patients who converted to ycN0 after NAC in the Brazilian health public services, in which radioisotope tracer is not suitable.
About 75% of the world's shoreline is composed of beach environments. Among them, the sandy beach is a familiar environment and used for tourism and recreation. The organisms that live in these environments, as polychaetes, crustaceans and mollusks, are almost unknown by people because they live buried. Thus, many time people could cause damage to these organisms without their own knowledge. Trampling is one of the human-induced impacts to those organisms, destroying their bodies or even dispelling them. Focused on this behavior, this research aims to simulate trampling on two sandy beaches and to observe a real scenario of recreation on weekends and during the week during summer and winter seasons in the Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. This study verified the changes occurring mainly in the faunal density of these two beaches with different intensities of use, in the predefined situations. Samples were collected during four months, on the second half of year, using simulated treatments and in another two months simple observation of the behavior of tourists was also performed. The simulated treatments did not cause significant changes in any collection except two. One of them was possibly a sampling artifact, which may be due to a low level of impact. The samples on the winter months also did not show significant changes, but the summer samples showed a large decrease in density of organisms during the weekend compared to during the week, probably related to the high intensity of human activity. As this study aimed to verify changes or impacts in organisms at up to 20 cm of depth, we concluded that only high impact activities could affect drastically the faunal density, as observed during the summer season at weekends on the study.
Palavras Chave: Gestão do Conhecimento. Panorama. SciELO.
Abstract:Knowledge management has become increasingly significant in the research of various areas of knowledge, particularly over the past few years. Presents an overview of research involving knowledge management in Brazil, in relation to its characteristics and tendencies present in the database SciELO ®. Conducts exploratory research, whose sample consists of articles published in Brazil collected in SciELO platform itself, which term "Knowledge Management" was present in the summary. In the survey, the following variables were studied: a) the subject areas in which the articles were published, b) year of publication, c) journal whose articles are published; d) language of publication, e) number of authors; f) keywords most cited g) education institutions second affiliation of authors per article, e, h) most used bibliography (books and authors) and, i) Knowledge Management articles related to engineering. It was found that the papers are mostly: published in journals of applied social sciences, written in Portuguese, published since 2007, having one to three authors. It was also found that the bibliography is varied, with a predominance of foreign authors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
