This research aims at describing parents participation in improving the quality of education of elementary schools viewed from the school substance and management. This is a qualitative research using phenomenology approach. The research design employed is comparative multicase involving four elementary schools in Malang city, East java, Indonesia. The choice on the researched schools are based on the recommendation from education office with regard to the school quality. The data collection is done by using in-depth interviews, observation, and document related to the parents participation in improving the quality of elementary school education. The analysis is conducted using flow model involving the stage of individual case analysis using flow model, which is then continued to cross cases data analysis which is done simultaneously. The result of data analysis found that parents participation in improving the quality of education of elementary schools is manifested in the aspects of learning, students affair, facilities and infrastructure, public relations, educational finance, and school personnel.
The principal as an educational leader is an important aspect in moving all available resources in educational institutions to be able to take advantage of technological developments in the industrial revolution era 4.0. Visionary leadership is one of the leadership models that can be carried out by an educational leader in facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Education 4.0 is not only focused on the use of technology but also must be able to build quality educational institutions and be able to satisfy all customers in educational institutions. Total Quality Management (TQM) as quality management strives to create a quality education system. The TQM leadership perspective is focused on improving methods and ways of working that are carried out through a continuous improvement process. The concept of visionary leadership in TQM is an effort to build quality management oriented to the vision, mission, and principles to achieve customer satisfaction through continuous quality improvement. The writing of this article aims to conceptualize the important role of visionary leadership in TQM as an effort to improve the quality of education in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The result of this discussion is the role of visionary leadership in TQM is the effort of an educational leader who is not only able to formulate a vision and strategic steps forward but is also able to improve the quality of education that can be done through the application of TQM principles through continuous improvement to satisfy customers education.
Empowerment of Human Resources (HR) is directed to increase HR participation in organizations and increase productivity. The results of various studies show that HR is a determinant of productivity. HR in the field of education can be grouped into three groups, namely the principal, teachers, and TAS. School competitiveness is also determined by the human resources it has. This research was conducted in a pesantren-based Junior High School (SMP) in East Java. The schools which are the research sites are: (1) SMP Insan Terpadu Probolinggo; (2) SMP Assa'adah Gresik; dan (3) SMP An Nur Bululawang Malang. This research refers to the Model of Empowerment of Islamic Boarding School-Based Human Resources Empowerment with Soft System Methodology Approach that has been designed. Researchers take quantitative measurements of the variables that impact the existence of the model. The variables measured were six variables, namely: learning leadership, change leadership, spiritual leadership, school culture, professional ethics, and teacher teaching performance. The method to be used is quantitative research. Measurement of the six variables is using a questionnaire instrument. The analysis that will be used is descriptive and regression analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of learning leadership, change leadership, spiritual leadership, school culture, and professional ethics on the teaching performance of pesantren-based junior high schools in East Java.
the purpose of this research to describe: (1) the form of culture, (2) cultural excellence, (3) the process formation of student character, (4) supporting factors of cultural implementation, (5) inhibiting factors of cultural implementation and (6) solutions made in overcome the barriers of "ketarunaan" based culturein forming student character. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a case study research at SMK Negeri 13 Malang. Data collection uses interview, observation, and documentation techniques. In analyzing data, the techniques used are reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are: (1) the form of "ketarunaan" culture consists of akamedic culture, social culture and democratic culture; (2) cultural excellence includes benefits obtained by internal and external parties; (3) the process of character building takes place through the implementation of school culture accompanied by elements of supporting the implementation of culture; and (4) supporting factors, inhibiting factors and solutions made in overcoming obstacles to the implementation of school-based learning culture which consists of internal and external parties.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) bentuk budaya, (2) keunggulan budaya, (3) proses pembentukan karakter peserta didik, (4) faktor pendukung pelaksanaan budaya, (5) faktor penghambat pelaksanaan budaya dan (6) solusi yang dilakukan dalam mengatasi hambatan budaya sekolah berbasis ketarunaan dalam pembentukan karakter peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan racangan penelitian studi kasus di SMK Negeri 13 Malang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Dalam menganalisis data, teknik yang digunakan yaitu reduksi, display data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu: (1) bentuk budaya sekolah berbasis ketarunaan terdiri dari budaya akademik, budaya sosial dan budaya demokratis;(2) keunggulan budaya meliputi keuntungan yang diperoleh pihak internal dan eksternal;(3) proses pembentukan karakter berlangsung melalui pelaksanaan budaya sekolah disertai dengan elemen penunjang pelaksanaan budaya; dan (4) faktor pendukung, faktor penghambat dan solusi yang dilakukan dalam mengatasi hambatan pada pelaksanaan budaya sekolah berbasis ketarunaan terdiri dari pihak internal dan eksternal.Kata Kunci: budaya sekolah, ketarunaan, karakter peserta didik Sekolah merupakan suatu bentuk organisasi yang mempunyai budaya tersendiri dari sistem yang utuh dan khas.
