About 25 % of the people past the age of 60 suffer from sleep disturbances. Conventional sleep-inducing drugs and sedatives let the patients sleep better, but often change the structure of sleep, involve risks like increased danger of falling, and can lead to a hangover, so that during the day the patients are restricted in their capability. Complementary methods like regulative therapy, kinesiotherapy, dietotherapy, hydrotherapy and phytotherapy, homeopathy and acupuncture are useful options to treat sleep disturbances in a gentle way.
