Quthzeit. I. A b h a n d l u n g : Ueber Dicarboxylglutarsaureester nnd seine Verwendbarkeit zur Synthese von dialkylsiibstituirten Glutarsauren und Ktirpern mit ringf6rmiger Kohlenstoffbindung ; von Oscar Dressel. Von C o n r a d und G u t h z e i t *) wurde gelegentlich des Studiums der Einwirkung von Chloroform auf Natriummalonsaureester zuerst die Dicarboxylglutarsaure dargestellt. Spater wurde sie und ihr Tetraathylester auch yon W. H. P e r k i n **) durch Condensation von Malonsaureester mit Formaldehyd, sowie auch von C 1 e m e n s K 1 e b e r ***) bei der Einwirkung von Chlorrnethylather auf Natriurnmalonsiiureester erhalten und besonders der letztere Forscher hat die Eigenschaften der Saure und ihrer Salze iiaher festgestellt. Da von dein Ester dieser Saure zu erwarten stand, dafs er sich ahnlich wie der Malonsaureester einer ausgedehnten *) Diem Annalen ass, 253. +*) Ber. d. deutsch. ohem. Man kann dabei gleich von der Natriumverbindung des Dicarboxylglutaconsaureesters ausgehen. Es wurden stets 35,2 g des durch Urnkrystallisiren gereinigten Natriurndicarboxylglutaconsaureesters in 900 g Eisessig eingetragen und bis zur volligen Losung und Entfarbung geschuttelt. Darauf wurden unter Erwarmen auf dem Wasserbade allmahlich 80 g gereinigter Zinkstaub zugefugt. Die Beendigung der Reduction, die etwa 5 Stunden in Anspruch nimmt, wird daran erkannt, dafs eine herausgenommene Probe in Wasser gegossen und rnit Aether extrahirt, nach dem Verdunsten des letzteren mit Eisenchlorid in alkoholischer Losung keine Blaufiirbung mehr zeigteine fur den nicht reducirten Ester charakteristische Reaction. Nachdem dann die ganze Flussigkeit durch ein Faltenfilter in vie1 Wasser gegossen war, wurde der ausgeschiedene Ester mit Aether ausgeschuttelt. Die atherische, gut gewaschene Losung hinterliefs beim Verdunsten ein Oel, welches uber Schwefelsaure getrocknet und im Vacuum destillirt, in ganzer Menge constant zwischen 196 und 200" iiberging (45 m m Druck). Die Ausbeute ist eine gute; sie betragt bis zu 80 pC. der theoretischen. Der Ester, so gewonnen, ist ein vollkomrnen farbloses, ziemlich dickfliissiges Oel.
