Individuals whose basic needs are naturally satisfied are much less dependent on their environment and more autonomous. Basic psychological needs (i.e., the general motivators of human actions) are significant predictors of online gaming addiction. Moreover, it has been posited that meaning and responsibility in life are at the center of life from an existential point of view. Therefore, a hypothetical model was tested to examine the relationships between basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relatedness), online gaming addiction, responsibility, and meaning in life. Data were collected from a sample of 546 participants. Mediation analysis was conducted, and the results indicated that basic psychological needs, online gaming addiction, responsibility, and meaning in life had significant negative and positive relationships. The findings indicated that responsibility and meaning in life had a serial mediating effect in the relationship between basic psychological needs and online gaming addiction. The findings also showed that the inverse relationship between online gaming addiction and basic psychological needs was at least partially explained by meaning in life and responsibility. The results of the present study are of great importance and suggest that interventions to satisfy the basic psychological needs of adolescents may help prevent online gaming addiction.
Yapılan araştırmalar dizi-filmlerin lise öğrencileri üzerinde önemli etkilerinin olduğunu göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte dizi-filmlerin lise öğrencilerinin rol model alma davranışı üzerindeki etkisini inceleyen sınırlı sayıda araştırma mevcuttur. Bu nitel araştırmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin dizi-film karakterleri hakkındaki düşüncelerini derinlemesine inceleyerek bu karakterlerinin rol model alma davranışları üzerindeki etkilerinin keşfedilmesidir. Siirt ilinde üç farklı liseden 30 öğrenciyle yapılan nitel görüşmelerin içerik analizi sonucunda lise öğrencilerinin dizi-film karakterlerini şu ana temalar çerçevesinde rol model aldıkları görüldü: “Konuşma tarzı”, “Fiziksel görünüm ve kıyafet”, “Motivasyon sağlama”, “Kişiler arası ilişkiler” ve son olarak “Kariyer edinme”. Sonuç olarak, lise öğrencilerinin takip ettikleri dizi-filmlerdeki karakterlerin birçok özelliğini örnek alarak onlar gibi davranmaya çalıştıkları görüldü. Elde edilen bulgular çerçevesinde çeşitli öneriler sunuldu.
In this study, it was aimed to adapt the Racial Microaggression Scale (RMS) to Turkish culture and to examine its validity and reliability. The study group of the research consists of 184 men and women between the ages of 18-62 living in different regions of Turkey. The Turkish version of the IRM consists of 14 items, just like its original form. Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated for the reliability of the inventory. Item discrimination was examined through corrected item-total score correlation values. In addition, 27% sub-top groups were formed regarding the data and it was determined that these two groups differed significantly. In order to reveal the criterion validity of the scale, the Perceived Discrimination Scale (PDS) and the Collective Self-Esteem Scale (CPS) were used and it was determined that there were significant relationships between them. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to examine the construct validity of the IRM. It was determined that the inventory had a single-factor structure similar to its original form. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the inventory was calculated as .91. The results showed that the Turkish Form of RMS can be used to reveal perceived racial microaggression in minority individuals. An increase in the score obtained from the scale means that the perceived racial microaggression also increases.
