Covid-19 Pandemic has changed all sectors, one of which is the system in education. Teachers and students are required to learn from home through online learning, it affects the mathematical resilience of students. This research is motivated by the number of findings of decreased student resilience in learning mathematics. The purpose of this study is to examine: (1) Steps of online learning by teachers (2) Mathematical resilience of students during online learning (3) students responses for online learning. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative, the sample selected as many as 4 teachers and 6 students with high, medium and low abilities in one junior high school in Cimahi. Data collection techniques used questionnaires for students to study students ‘mathematical resilience during online learning, interviews to examine students’ responses to online learning, and interviews and observations with teachers to analyze the steps of online learning that were carried out. The results of the study show: 1) The online learning process begins with handouts through Google Classroom, followed by an explanation of the material using a zoom meeting and assignments through the Google Classroom (2) Student resilience of mathematics is high during online learning. (3) students give positive responses for online learning.
The previous research showed that slow sand filtration (SSF) can remove the total coli by approximately 99% because of the schmutzecke layer in the filter. The presented study aimed to complete the previous research on SSF, especially on the schmuztdecke layer mechanism, to remove total coli. Total coli is a parameter of water quality standard in Indonesia, and the behavior of schmutzdecke affects the total coli removal. In the present study, the raw water from Amprong River was treated using horizontal roughing filter (HRF) and SSF. The variations in SSF rate used were 0.2 and 0.4 m/h. Total coliforms were analyzed using the most probable number test, and schmutzdecke visualization was conducted through scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). The best coliform concentration in water treated by the combination of HRF and SSF was 4,386 colonies per 100 mL of sample using the filtration rate of 0.2 m/h, and its removal efficiency was 99.60%. However, the quality of water treated by the combination of HRF and SSF did not meet the drinking water quality standard because the removal of total coli must be 100%. The SEM-EDX visualization results in schmutzdecke showed that the average bacteria in the schmutzdecke layer were small, white, opaque, and circular, with entire edge and flat elevation. The Gram test results showed that the schmutzdecke bacteria consisted of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria with basil as the common cell form.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the level of abstraction mathematical ability of the students through learning using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with Visual Basic Application (VBA) for Microsoft Excel. In Malaysia rural area, the fixed-rate method is the waste charging approach adopted by the local authorities because of low administration cost, but it is ineffective and has caused many environmental issues. Therefore, this study was conducted to explore the public willingness to pay on better solid waste management services at rural area of Kelantan. A total of 911 respondents from three (3) districts (Jeli, Kuala Krai, Gua Musang) participated in this study. The results showed that most respondents (±75%) expressed their satisfaction on current solid waste management services provided. This study indicated that nearly 62% of respondents were willing to pay more for better solid waste management services. This study revealed that the estimated mean willingness to pay (WTP) for better solid waste management service is RM12.05 per household. Logistic regression model suggested that satisfaction on solid waste management services affected the WTP amount, apart from socio-economic factors such as educational level, type of houses, occupation and household income. The results can be useful for understanding the rural resident’s attitudes and WTP for solid waste management services.
