Kata kunci: berpikir breatif matematis, gender, resiliensi matematis ABSTRACT This study aims to find out in depth about the positive effects of gender factors and mathematical resilience in the achievement of mathematical creative thinking ability of high school students. This research uses correlational method with quantitative approach. The population of this study is all of high school students in Bandung and the sample is one selected XII grade high school students in a private high school in Bandung with 33 students. The instrumen used in this research is a test to measure mathematical creative thinking ability by using 4 essays. While the nontest instrumen that is used to measure the level of mathematical resilience is in the form of questionnaire with scale. Data analysis used in this research is Covariance Analysis test (Ancova). By using 95% confidence level, this study shows that there is a positive relationship between gender factors and mathematical resilience of students to the achievement of mathematical creative thinking ability of high school students. The value of Multiple Determination Coefficient or R Squared equals to 0.866. It means that 86.6% of the achievement of students' mathematical creative thinking ability is influenced by gender factors and mathematical resilience, while the remaining 13.4% is influenced by other factors. Keywords: Gender, Mathematical Creative Thinking, Mathematical Resilience
This control-group posttest-only experimental design study aims to investigate the role of learning that teaches metaphorical thinking in mathematical questioning ability of junior high school teachers. The population of this study was mathematics junior high school teachers in West Java province. The samples were 82 mathematics junior high school teachers selected using random purposive sampling for experimental class and control class. It was concluded that: 1) the teacher's mathematical questioning ability who received metaphorical thinking learning is better than those who received conventional learning; 2) learning factors and KAM (Kemampuan Awal Matematis = Prior Mathematical Ability) affect the achievement of teachers' mathematical questioning ability; there is an interaction effect between learning and KAM in developing teachers' mathematical questioning ability; 4) teachers' mathematical questioning ability does not reach optimal for submitting non-routine and open-ended questions indicator.
AbstractThis study aims to analyze and examine in depth about the students' mathematical critical thinking ability influenced by self-confidence. The study was designed in the form of experiments using correlational method with quantitative approach. The population in this research is high school students in Bandung and the sample as many as 27 people determined by purposive sampling technique in one of high school in Bandung. The instrument in this research is the test of mathematical critical thinking ability as much as 6 items and the scale of students' selfconfidence as much as 33 scale statement. Based on the results and discussion, it is concluded that the students' mathematical critical thinking ability influenced positively by self-confidence equal to 74.6%, while 25.4% influenced by factors other than student self-confidence.
This research is a merged descriptive and quasi-experiment research aimed to describe students’ creativity in developing interactive learning media with Visual Basic Application for Excel. Besides that, it had done to review students’ ability which learning used open-ended Visual Basic Application for Excel compared with the other students’ which learning used the expository method with Visual Basic Application for Excel based. The subject contained 35 students in experiment class and 33 students in the control class, where the creativity of their learning media is reviewed and is analysed using SPSS. The research result shows that: (1) Students’ creativity in creating interactive learning media that the learning used open-ended Visual Basic Application for Excel based is better than the one with expository method of Visual Basic Application for Excel found; (2) Students creativity in creating interactive learning media is the combination of their mastery towards school level mathematics and the ability in applying Visual Basic Application for Excel.
This studyis a post test experimental control group design conducted in 2013by using Problem Based Learning (PBL)to investigate students’ mathematical communication, mathematicalcritical thinking abilityand disposition. The study involves 76 students of grade-11 from a senior high school in Cimahi. The study employs three kinds of instrument namely mathematical communication and mathematical critical thinking tests and mathematical critical thinking scale. The study found that the grade of mathematical communication ability of students taught by PBL was classified as fairly good and it was better than the grade of students taught by conventional teaching that classified as medium. However, there was no different grades of mathematical critical thinking ability and of disposition of students in the both classes. The grades of mathematical critical thinking of students were classified as medium, and the grades of mathematical critical thinking disposition of students were classified as fairly good. The other findings there were not association among mathematical communication, critical thinking abilities and mathematicalcritical thinkingdisposition.
