Resumo For the determination of the coating to be used, corrosion-resistant alloys were tested in comparison with material employed in the pipes of heat exchangers, ASTM 178A. The selection of the most resistant coating was made by means of accelerated corrosion test in SO2 chamber and also by testing polarization. It was found that the aluminum coating had the best results in the tests when compared with materials currently used in the heat exchangers (ASTM 178A). Key-words:Coal. Corrosive wear. Coating. Aluminum. [13]
Resumo experiment F). Pulsed MIG / MAG (GMAW-P) and self-shielded cored wire (FCAW-S) welding of tube and pipeline steel API 5L X70, by using respectively AWS ER 80S-G and AWS E 71T-11 filler metals (experiment "R "). To detect cold cracks visual and penetrant liquid inspection were performed. Additionally the welds were evaluated by macrography and microhardness measurements. No cracks were detected, despite the use of basic and filler metals of high carbon equivalent and the higher restraint and therefore more stressed joint. It is assumed that the integrity of the welded joints was due to the use of processes and / consumables with low hydrogen content. Key-words:Cold crack. Iin-service welding. Sleeve welding on pipe.
.The semi-automatic MIG/MAG (GMAW)welding process was applied, whereby the conditions for minimizing the penetration under the welding techniques pulling or pushing the weld pool were evaluated, as well as the short-circuit or pulsed current metal transfer modes were investigated. The boundary conditions for burn-through were determined associated to specific levels for water flow and pressure. The internal temperature of the pipe wall was determined by an analytical solution for heat transfer in welding. The results showed that for the pulsed current MIG/MAG and pushing the pool technique, maintaining all other welding variables constant, the weld penetration is reduced. Moreover, the welding power levels for the occurrence of burn-through proved to be superior than those reported in the literature for SMAW, indicating MIG/MAG as a robust and suitable process for in-service welding.Key-words: Burn-through; In-service welding, MIG/MAG Welding.
High strength steel pipes internally clad with Ni superalloys are components widely used in the oil and gas industry, with distinguished application in the production of rigid steel risers. The joining of clad pipes is carried out through a girth welding process, in which the joint is totally filled with a filler material similar to the internal clad. However, depending on mechanical strength of the pipe substrate, an undermatching condition is created. Thus, a critical weaker region results in the welded joint, where loads and plastic deformations will occur preferentially. In view of this problematic, this work aims to apply an alternative approach as a method of joining clad steel pipes, whereby an overmatching condition is achieved in the joint. This technique is carried out through a double-sided weld, which enables the use of steel filler wire in the joint filling externally, preserving the internal cladding through an inside diameter weld with a CRA filler wire. A C-Mn API X-65 steel pipe, metallurgically cladded with Inconel 625 was used in the study. For joining the pipes, modern welding techniques as GMAW CCC (Controlled Short-Circuit) and GTAW with dynamic wire feeding were applied. The developments showcased weld beads with excellent surface appearance and without welding defects, fact verified by internal videoscopy and cross section macrography. Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectometry (EDS) indicated low iron dilutions, around 2,7% in weight, on the internal weld bead surface. The double-sided welding methodology produces favorable conditions to reach joint properties equalization, enabling the employment of steel filler wire in joint filling, in addition to preserving the internal clad and its corrosion properties.
