Social media has become an integral part of our life. People around the globe interact with each other by using social media applications. Social media turns the world into global village. The use of social media has become a great risk for children and adolescents. Thesis risks include some psychological issues related to mental health. This research explores the psychological effects of TikTok social media application among the students of Hazara University, Mansehra. Uses and Gratification theory of media is the relevant theory with this research study. Population for this specific research study was the student so Hazara University. A self-administered questionnaire used for collecting data from a sample of 400 respondents, both male and female with equal presential. The collected data was analyzed by using statistical software SPSS. Data tabulation and its sub-sequent analysis reveals that almost all the students i.e., 100% of Hazara University use smartphone in their regular routine life and 78% students used smartphone more than three hours a day. The empirical analysis reveals that more than 65% respondents use smartphone for different purposes i.e., chat, calls, information, entertainment etc. the exclusive analysis of data reveals that TikTok smartphone application have different psychological effects on its users these effects include loneliness, anxiety, stress etc.
People especially, younger generations use Twitter for various purposes, including political socialization. This research aims at exploring Twitter's usage for political socialization among young people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The Uses and Gratification theory provides a theoretical framework to the present research study. A survey research technique is used for the purpose of data collection. A standardized questionnaire was used as the research tool in this quantitative research. The population for this study was taken from the students reading in different Universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In total, 525 students were selected on the basis of convenient sampling. The sample size was measured following Cochran's formula. 501 students positively responded to the questionnaire. Analysis of the data revealed that political parties and,politicians interact with voters via Twitter for political socialization.
Social media is a direct source of communication that tries to connect people across the globe through text messages, video, and audio calling. In Pakistan, the use of social media has exponentially increased during the last decade. More people have access to social media and smart phones. Some network services in Pakistan are even providing free services to some social media platforms such as Facebook. This has made social media a leading channel through which politicians reach the public. They do it for the purpose of influencing constituents’ opinions, recruiting volunteers and donors, and mobilizing voters. This study is an attempt in line with the same proposition. The current research makes use of contents analysis techniques. The study explores how major political parties; Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN), Pakistan People Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek – E- Insaaf (PTI) and their respective leaders reach; Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Imran Khan reach the public through their social media platforms to convey their messages. Political contents in the form of Facebook posts and tweets of the three major Pakistani political parties and their leaders during one month period are collected. Responses to the collected posts and tweets in terms of like, share, comments and re-tweets are quantified accordingly. The number of responses to political contents of a particular party and its leaders are taken as efforts towards political mobilization of the social media users. The findings suggest Imran Khan as the better followed leader on Facebook and Twitter than Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif, whereas, PMLN as political party was followed more than PPP and PTI. Present research study is based on survey technique to explore, explain and investigate media portrayal of female in Pakistani TV daramas. In this regard, focus of the research on portrayal of females in daramas that how females’ characters are portrayed in daramas. The population of the study was female students of Hazara University. The researcher used probability sampling technique for data collection. sample for this specific research study was 200 female students of Hazara University. Media dependency theory is the most relevant media effect theory with present research work. The data was collected by using standardized questionnaire. The empirical analysis of the data reveals that overall majority of the females of Hazara University watch different daramas and take keen interest in them. The exclusive analysis of the data also reveals that overall majority of the respondents use outfits in their daily routine life after watching daramas.
