This research attempts to understand environmental communication taking place in countries with different political, socio-cultural contexts and organizational media levels. In this regard, the research's focuses on Pakistani and British print media systems, which have different organizational systems and contexts. Therefore, it is worth analyzing whether these organizational differences affect the way their news content in relation to the environment is being produced, with emphasis on the credibility of sources. A quantitative content analysis of two Pakistani and two British newspapers was conducted from the previous one decade through January 2007 to December 2016 by using a sample of 5315 environmental news stories published in four publications concerning from each country such as Dawn and Nation from Pakistan, whereas Telegraph and Guardian have chosen from the UK. The Significance of this quantitative study is based on the theoretical approach of agenda-setting and media source credibility. Assuredly, environmental reporting of Pakistani and British print media diverges in the context of source preferences in agenda-setting and media source credibility capacity. Subsequently, dominantly quoted news sources of environmental issues in Pakistani and British print media depict the environmental agenda of each country.
This research study is conducted to explore the impact of Smartphone applications on political behavior of youth. The study is conducted based on serving standard questionnaire for data collection and analysis. The aim of the study is to explore the impact of Smartphone applications like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, ChatON, Imo, Videos, Music, and many other applications. Youth using Smartphone to Chat, Share ideas, information, upload videos and pictures. Smartphone also provides different social media applications to its users for chatting, sharing information and many other purposes. In this research study 200 male and 200 female students of two universities were selected as respondents. The findings show that respondents use Smartphone since 3 to 4 years. The findings also reveal that majority of the youth use Smartphone to interact with friends. The exclusive analysis of findings reveals that majority of the respondents use Facebook very frequently to share information about politics as compared with other applications. The work also indicates that Smartphone applications are very popular among the youth. They not only use these applications for chatting and call making but also for political information. This research study further indicates that Smartphone application affects the voting behavior of youth. They not only interact with each other but also share and discuss political contents.
Social media has become an integral part of our life. People around the globe interact with each other by using social media applications. Social media turns the world into global village. The use of social media has become a great risk for children and adolescents. Thesis risks include some psychological issues related to mental health. This research explores the psychological effects of TikTok social media application among the students of Hazara University, Mansehra. Uses and Gratification theory of media is the relevant theory with this research study. Population for this specific research study was the student so Hazara University. A self-administered questionnaire used for collecting data from a sample of 400 respondents, both male and female with equal presential. The collected data was analyzed by using statistical software SPSS. Data tabulation and its sub-sequent analysis reveals that almost all the students i.e., 100% of Hazara University use smartphone in their regular routine life and 78% students used smartphone more than three hours a day. The empirical analysis reveals that more than 65% respondents use smartphone for different purposes i.e., chat, calls, information, entertainment etc. the exclusive analysis of data reveals that TikTok smartphone application have different psychological effects on its users these effects include loneliness, anxiety, stress etc.
This paper endeavors to explore the portrayal of parents in prime-time entertainment television dramas of Pakistan. Representation of the parenting style and children's response to their parents in the top three entertainment channels has been analyzed. Total 147 episodes of targeted drama serials of ARY, Hum, and Geo TV were selected through purposive sampling. The study found that the authoritative parenting style was most prevailing in the drama serials. The behavior of the children towards their parents was respectful except in the Drama serials broadcasted by ARY Digital. As Parents' respect is dominant in private entertainment channels of Pakistan, so the findings indicate that Pakistani entertainment television dramas play a vital role in safeguarding cultural norms of the country.
