This collaborative research project focuses on the use and application of the McCord Museum’s on-line educational resources, and their integration into Québec’s elementary school, Cycle Three social science program. The first part looks at the shortage of on-line educational resources that adequately meet school needs. It also examines the connections between information and communications technologies (ICT) and the Elementary Cycle Three Education program, as well as ICT applications for supporting the development of competencies in the social sciences and other subject areas. We next examine the increasingly important role museum resources play in teaching and learning, and, more specifically, McCord Museum staff expertise. The second part describes the research method carried out, as well as the development, testing, and validification of the Museum’s on-line educational resources. The third part presents our findings regarding appropriation of resources, student learning, and the relevance of Web resources in Museum education programs. Finally, the fourth part presents our recommendations for effective and efficient classroom integration of the on-line educational resources examined in this study
The teaching of orthography is complex and presents a number of specific difficulties. The number of concepts in this field is significant. Various teaching methods attempt to motivate the student to produce correct orthography; others provide various ways to teach rules of grammar. However, few have as an objective the acquisition of an efficient mental structure that could be generalizable to the rules governing grammatical orthography. A procedure to teach grammar that is based on an algorithmic approach could offer an acceptable way to solve problems related to the teaching of grammar.
