Cyanides, whether organic or inorganic, are highly toxic to all forms of life, i.e., animals and plants alike. This necessitates its detection and determination even when present in trace amounts. Various optical, electrometric, radiochemical and chromatographic methods so far reported for this purpose have been reviewed. An exhaustive bibliography of 154 references is given.
The complexation behaviour of 2,4-dihydro-5-methyl-2-phenyl-3H-pyrazol-3-one thiosemicarbazone (DMPPOT) has been studied palladium(I1 manganese(I1 and oxovanad on the basis Metal complexes of chromium(III), iron(III), , cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II), , zinc(II), cadmium(II), mercuryfII), lead(I1) um(1V) have been synthesised and characterised of elemental analysis, molecular weights, magnetic moments, infrared and electronic spectral studies, and conductance measurements. The complexes have been screened for their possible antimicrobial activity.
272ChemInform Abstract The two well known antimalarials amodiaquine and primaquine react with corresponding metal salts in stoichiometric ratio to afford the 1:1 amodiaquine metal complexes (I) and the 2:1 or 3:1 primaquine complexes (II). These complexes are investigated by an in vitro microtechnique for their schizonticidal activity. The antimalarial activity of these metal complexes is of the same order as that of the corresponding drugs.
Complexes of the title compounds (I) and (II) with 16 metal ions (VO, Co, Cu, Ni, Fe, Zn, Hg, Cd, Cr, Pt, Ag, Mn, Sn, Au, Pd, Rh) are screened for their bacteriostatic activity against five human pathogenic bacterial strains (E. coli, S. aureous, S. typhi, Ps.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
