Purpose
This paper aims to identify and reduce possible process failures occurred in warehouse.
Design/methodology/approach
This research used risk analysis method FMEA combined with fuzzy-analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Design FMEA will direct the failure mode or failure of components into levels and will use it to analyze the product before it used in manufacturing processes. Design FMEA has a major point on the failure mode that caused inefficiency in the design while fuzzy-AHP used to reduce subjectivity in the weighting process.
Findings
The results show that high inventory is the dominant factor that must be controlled by the company to prevent the risk of failure processes in the warehouse, followed by the number of stocks that do not match with existing records, and misplacement of machines and/or materials.
Originality/value
This research used risk analysis method FMEA combined with fuzzy-AHP to identify and reduce the possible process failures in warehousing.
Purpose
This study aims to propose an optimal procurement model of the collaborative supply chain in the furniture industry. The final output is the total cost minimisation to produce a furniture product that covers material cost, processing cost, transportation cost and holding cost. Therefore, if companies can give the best value to customers at a low cost, then competitive advantages can be achieved.
Design/methodology/approach
A genetic algorithm (GA) as a metaheuristic approach was used to solve problems in this research. The optimisation was initiated by developing a mathematical model to formulate the objective function.
Findings
Based on the case study, the proposed GA model was able to reduce the total cost of production. The cost was reduced by 73.09% compared to the existing system. Besides, the production time of the proposed model is within the capacity of both companies; hence, no penalty cost is imposed.
Practical implications
The proposed GA model has been implemented and tested to minimise production costs in the Indonesian furniture industry.
Originality/value
To the best of author knowledge, there is no research has proposed an optimisation model that incorporates production cost, transportation cost and production time capacity together in the collaborative supply chain. This research is the first to collaborate these factors using GA in the furniture industry.
Business development is an important thing for every company in order to adjust their self to follow the world sophistication. One of business sector is animation that now became more advance along the world development. In Indonesia the business move in the field of animation has not been so ogled by the investors. One big reason is because investors do not know the level of profit to be gained. This study aims to develop a business model company engaged in the field of animation that accompanied the information related to the benefits of investment that will be obtained. the Method used in this research are business model canvas (BMC) and SWOT analysis which being modified with cost analysis. The results obtained is "Kasat Mata" animation company that has been operating for more than 10 years should be develop its business model in order to provide a good profit for the company. Based on cost analysis with several investment feasibility parameters, the business development model is eligible. At the end, this research can be used as a reference for the company for developing their business model and also can be used by investors as a consideration for understanding the benefits.
Purpose: This research aims to develop framework in the sustainable supply chain management (SCM) and to provide causal model of service industry specifically in higher education laboratory.Design/methodology/approach: The concepts of sustainable SCM in higher education laboratory were obtained by in-depth interviews and organized using Delphi method. While to identify the relationship between concepts, intuitionistic fuzzy cognitive map was utilized.Findings: As many as 15 concepts were identified to assess sustainability in the higher education laboratory SCM. These 15 concepts were classified into four categories according to its importance level, and there are two most important concepts: legal requirement and social responsibility. It is recommended for higher education laboratories to constantly obey national and regional government regulations and to satisfy current and prospective employers by providing work-ready graduates. This suggestion is expected to make higher education achieving its sustainability goals. Originality/value: This research is the first to develop a framework for sustainable SCM and to provide a causal model of the service industry especially in the education sector using intuitionistic fuzzy cognitive map.
Abstract. Engineering education contains two aspects; theory and practice. Practice activity supports the students to implement the theory obtained in the class. Therefore, it will be better if the theory has material visualization in order to support and make easier the student and lecturer in teaching activity. Analisis Perancangan Kerja dan Ergonomi (APK & E) is one of the laboratories in Industrial Engineering, Universitas Islam Indonesia. APK & E laboratory which uses website as a tool to communicate to the students. Currently, the existing website still show standard display by conventional way. Based on the questionnaire, the student difficult to understand the material especially for Micromotion Study since this material requires the video to show the student in assembly activity. Augmented Reality (AR) combines the real and virtual objects that interactive in the real time and registered in 3D space. AR also combines the real and virtual in displaying information in the real time, in a way that enhances the individual abilities to operate the system in the real world. The system which combines between AR and Micromotion Study was come up. The required software to develop the online AR system is FLARToolKit 2.5.1. In this research, marker detection accuracy measurement of the used toolkit has been conducted and it showed 85% of accuracy level.
