The objective of this study is to provide a systematic review of theses and dissertations about computer assisted mathematics teaching and to present a meta-synthesis review of these studies. For the objective of this research study, a total of 64 theses and dissertations completed in Turkey between 1993 and 2016 were included in the systematic review process. Theses and dissertations were examined based on some variables: year of publication, type, university, institution and used computer programs. The results of the systematic review were presented by tables including frequencies and percentages. As a result of the study, it was found that majority of researches were presented after the year 2008 and as master thesis at educational science graduate school. In addition, computer software for teaching mathematics, computer algebra systems (CAS) and dynamic mathematics software (DMS) were used most commonly as a computer assisted teaching application. It is hoped that the results of the study will provide a guidance for mathematics educators, and researchers for new researches in the future. According to these obtained results, some recommendations were made for mathematics educators, and researchers. It is also especially recommended that a similar study be repeated in every five years in Turkey in order to monitor and review the research trends.
The aim of the study is to determine prospective primary school teachers' attitudes towards teaching mathematics. The study is designed according to model of survey in the descriptive type. A total of 236 prospective primary school teachers were examined in order to investigate the effect of gender and program differences on their attitudes towards teaching mathematics. In the study, the questionnaire "Teaching Mathematics" was used to collect the data from prospective teachers. The results revealed that the prospective teachers have positive attitude towards teaching mathematics. It was found also that gender and grade level are not significant factor on attitude scores. Finally, various suggestions were presented for future studies in accordance with the findings obtained.
The current study was conducted for the purpose of examining the mathematical skills in preschool children in terms of some variables. The sample group of the study consisted of 131, five or six years old children who were attending to three public schools' kindergartens in districts of Diyarbakır, Siverek city center in 2015-2016 academic year. The data were collected by using "Personal Information Questionnaire" and "Test of Early Learning Skills -TELS" which was developed by Somwari (1977) to determine children's mathematical skills levels. At the end of the research following findings obtained. In terms of mathematics skills, there were statistically significant differences between the groups according to gender, mathematics study in the home, birth order, parents education level and the socio-economical level. Moreover, no difference was found among the age and handedness variables for the mathematics skills scores.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
