In order to break seed dormancy, different temperatures (20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 o C) and durations (10, 20 and 30 minutes) were applied to black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) and honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos L.) seeds, in the Seed Laboratory of Dicle University -Faculty of Agriculture in 2009. According to the research results, the highest germination rate for black locust seeds was obtained in the case of 90 o C for 30 minutes pre-treatment (94.5%), whilst the lowest value was obtained for the 40 o C for 10 minutes pretreatment (7.5.0%). For honey locust the highest value was obtained at 50 o C for 30 minutes (25.5%) and the lowest value was obtained in the case of control sample (6.8%).

Determination of Plant Species at Different Direction and Altitudes of Pastures of Yelesen and Dikme Villages in Bingöl AbstractThis study was conducted to compare different directions and altitudes of a pasture land for identification plant species in Yelesen and Dikme villages, Bingöl in 2012 and 2013. Total 155 plant taxa of 96 genus from 29 plant families were identified in the two year study. 15 taxa were decreasers, 9 taxa were increasers and 131 taxa were invaders. Decreasers, increasers, and invaders had 14.86%, 14.54% and 70.59%, respectively in the botanical composition. Identified %11.0 taxa were grasses, %18.1 taxa were legumes and %71.0 taxa were other family crops. The majority of the species Fabaceae (28), Lamiaceae (20), Asteraceae (19) and Poaceae (17) were identified as belonging to the family. In terms of the directions; the diversity of species is highest in the north direction with 90 species, west with 83 species, east with 74 species and south with 71 species were followed. In terms of the altitudes; third altitudes (1704 m) with 102 species have the richest diversity, it was followed by a second altitudes (1876 m) with 85 species, the lowest value were given by first altitudes (1992 m) with 80 species. In the study; west and north directions to be richer than the other directions in terms of the presence of species, species richness in terms of altitudes were found increased that towards the heights down.

Drought is a major stress factor for agricultural production including alfalfa production. One way to counterbalance the yield losses is the introgression of drought tolerant germplasm into breeding programs. As an effort to exploit such germplasm, 16 individual plants were selected from the Southeastern Turkey from their natural habitat and clonally propagated in field trials with an ultimate goal to use the germplasm as parents for releasing a synthetic cultivar. Forage yield and forage quality traits were evaluated and molecular genetic diversity among genotypes were determined using inter simple sequence repeat markers. Genotypes showed a variation from growth habit to yield and quality traits indicating sufficient phenotypic variation for diverse breeding efforts (for grazing or harvesting) and long term selection schemes. A large amount of genetic variation was observed even with a limited number of marker and genotypes. However, no pattern of spatial genetic structure was observed for the scale of the study when genetic variation is linked to the geographic origin. We conclude that ex situ natural variation provides a wealth of germplasm that could be incorporated into breeding programs aiming to improve drought tolerance. We also suggest an extensive collection of seeds/plant tissue from unique plants with desirable traits rather than putting more efforts to create a spatial germplasm sampling efforts in narrow regions.

Hayvan beslemesinde kullanılacak kaba yemlere ait besin içeriklerinin ve kalite parametrelerinin önceden bilinmesi başarılı bir hayvancılık için büyük öneme sahiptir. Bu çalışma doğal olarak yetişen bazı buğdaygil yem bitkisi türlerinin yem kalitesini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Dicle Üniversitesi kampüs alanında yeralan doğal vejetasyondan 2017 yılında toplanan 13 değişik buğdaygil cinsine ait 15 buğdaygil yem bitkisi türü, araştırmanın materyalini oluşturmuştur. Bitki türlerine ait doğadan toplanan tohumlar Dicle Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Araştırma arazinde ayrı ayrı parsellere ekilerek, çiçeklenme döneminde ot ile ilgi analizlerinin yapılması için hasat edilmiştir. Her parselden 3 tekerrürlü olarak alınan kuru ot örnekleri Dicle Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi (DÜBTAM) Laboratuarlarında analiz edilmiştir. İncelenen özelliklere ait veriler üzerinde yapılan istatiksel analiz sonucuna göre, incelenen tüm özellikler için buğdaygil bitki türlerinin 0.01 düzeyinde birbirlerinden farklı olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca araştırmada incelenen özelliklerin 15 buğdaygil türü arasında aşağıdaki aralıklarda değişim gösterdiği belirlenmiştir; ham protein oranı (HP)-%6.2-19.3; kuru madde oranı (KMO)-%88.9-91.7; asit deterjanda çözünmeyen lif oranı (ADF)-%22.9-43.2; nötral deterjanda çözünmeyen lif oranı (NDF)-%45.9-74.6; asit deterjanda çözünmeyen protein oranı (ADP)-%0.08-0.63; sindirilebilir kuru madde oranı (SKM) %55.3-71.0; kuru madde tüketimi oranı (KMT)-%1.61-2.62 ve nisbi yem değerleri (NYD)-68.9-143.1. Biplot analiz yöntemiyle yapılan analizlerde ise aşağıdaki sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. İncelenen özelliklerin birbirinden farklı 5 grup oluşturduğu belirlenmiştir. Kuru madde oranı, ADF ve NDF oranlarından oluşan 3 özellik arasında olumlu ve önemli ilişki saptanmış olup, bu üç özellik bakımından sindirilebilirlik oranı ve nisbi yem değerleri en düşük olan Bromus tectorum türü öne çıkmıştır. Öte yandan, aynı grupta yeralan ham protein oranı, magnezyum içeriği ve sindirilebilir kuru madde oranı özellikleri arasında da olumlu ve önemli ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu üç özelliğin bulunduğu grupta yer alan tek buğdaygil türü olan Lolium perenne türü dikkat çekici bulunmuştur. Yine aynı şekilde nisbi yem değeri ve kuru madde tüketim oranı özellikleri arasında da önemli olumlu ilişki olduğu belirlenmiş olup, iki özellik bakımından ise Festuca arundinacea ve Phalaris canariensis türleri öne çıkmıştır.

Ülkemizdeki nüfus artışına bağlı olarak hayvansal proteine duyulan ihtiyaç da artmıştır. Bu ihtiyaçların karşılanabilmesi için eldeki mevcutların iyi bir şekilde değerlendirilmesi gerekir. Herkesin hayvansal kaynaklı proteine kolay ve ucuz olarak ulaşabilmesi ancak hayvancılığın en büyük girdisi olan yemi ucuz olarak sağlayan meraların doğru ve düzenli olarak kullanılmasına ve yem bitkisi üretim alanlarının artırılmasına bağlıdır. Meraları doğru kullanmak için öncelikle merada otlayacak hayvan kapasitesinin bilinmesi, kapasite üstü hayvanlarla otlatmanın yapılmaması ve daha da önemlisi otlatma mevsimine bağlı kalınması gerekir. 2019 yılında Elazığ’da 232.411 BBHB varlığının olduğu, buna karşın yem değeri düşük kaba yemlerde dahil edilse dahi 534.082.634 kg yem açığı olduğu görülmektedir. İl’in toplam tarım alanının %3.6’sında yem bitkisi üretimi yapıldığı, bu oranın gelişmiş ülkelerin çok çok gerisinde kaldığı, yem açığının giderilmesi için acilen yem bitkisi üretim alanlarının artırılması sağlanmalıdır.

With the help of this compilation work, approximately, 122 taxa, 66 species, 27 subspecies and 29 varieties of Vicia genus have been identified in Turkey. There are 11 endemic species of the Vetch taxa in Turkey. Among existing Vetch taxa, it has been identified that seventy six taxa are annual, twenty six are perennial, six are annual or biennial, five are annual or perennial, one is biennial or perennial and one is biennial. In terms of chromosome numbers of taxa, it has been found that; 44 taxa consist of 14 chromosomes, 14 have 12 chromosomes, 5 have 10 chromosomes and one taxa has 28 chromosomes. Besides, we found that 19 taxa have more than one chromosome numbers. The first three of the most common species according to the provinces where they have been found are Vicia cracca L. subsp. stenophylla Vel. (31 provinces), V. speregrina L. and V. sativa L. subsp. nigra (L.) Ehrh. (28 provinces).

This research was carried out to determine quality properties of some pasture plant species. In this research, 10 different pasture plant species were used as materials which were collected from Diyarbakir pasture areas of Turkey. At the end of research, quality properties of pasture plants were ranged from lowest to highest for average dry matter 11.5-30.9%, average crude protein 12.6-26.6%, crude ash 5.5-21.2%, acid detergent fiber 22.0-43.0%, neutral detergent fiber 20.5-56.1%, digestible dry matter 55.
