Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF), commonly observed in advanced ages, displays striking age dependent increase and increased P wave dispersion (PWD) has been shown to be a predictor of AF. In this study we sought to determine whether P wave duration and PWD increase with aging. Method and Results:Eighty-three elderly subjects (group-I mean age 75±8 years) and 40 healthy young subjects (group-II, mean age 37±6 years) participated in this study. 12-lead ECG recorded at a paper speed of 50mm/s was obtained from each participant. Maximum (Pmax) and minimum P wave duration (Pmin) was measured manually with a caliper and the difference between two values was defined as PWD. Pmax and PWD were significantly higher in group-I compared to group-II. (98±8 vs. 93±8 p=0.01, 41±12 vs. 34±13 p=0.002, respectively). Among the elderly population when those with cardiovascular disorders such as hypertension, coronary artery disease and heart failure were excluded, Pmax and PWD were still significantly higher than the young population. (Pmax: 98±7 vs. 93±7, p=0.02 and PWD: 42±11 vs. 34±13, p=0.002). Moreover, on correlation analysis a positive correlation was detected between Pmax and PWD and aging. (r=0.29, p=0.004; r=0.30, p=0.003 respectively). Conclusion:PWD shows age dependent increase and may be a useful marker for estimation the risk of developing AF seen in advanced ages Key Words: Aging, p wave dispersion, atrial fibrillation ÖZET Yafl ile P Dalga Dispersiyonu Aras›ndaki IliflkiAmaç: ‹leri yafllarda yag›n olarak görülen atriyal fibrilasyon; yafl ba¤›ml› olarak çarp›c› bir art›fl göstermek-tedir ve artm›fl p dalga dispersiyonunun atriyal fibrilasyonun bir ön gördürücüsü oldu¤u gösterilmifltir.
SUMMARYThe study was held to evaluate genotype × environment interactions and stability status of twenty common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) genotypes in terms of fresh forage yield trait by using additive main effects and multiplicative interactions analysis (AMMI). Field trials of the study were carried out during 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 growing seasons under the rainfed conditions of two different locations of the Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey. The field trials were established according to randomized blocks design with three replications. Additive main effects and multiplicative interactions analysis (AMMI) showed that the effect of environments on genotype × environment interactions were found quite high levels for fresh forage yield trait. The first three principal component axes (IPCA 1 IPCA 2 and IPCA 3) were found highly significant (P<0.01), and they accounted for 93.44% of the total genotype by environmental interaction. Furthermore, the effect of environments on forage yields of common vetch genotypes was found to be highest (42.23%), it was followed by genotype×environment interaction (GEI) (36.13%) and genotypic effects (21.64%). AMMI analysis revealed that with their high yield means, and lower IPCA-1 scores, close to zero, respectively, D-135 (G6), IFVS-2541 (G4) and IFVS-715 (G3) were considered to be possessing high stable fresh forage yields. Therefore, these genotypes should be preferred for forage yield production in Southeastern Anatolia region conditions.
The study was conducted to determine forage quality criteria of Salvia multicaulis VAHL. species collected from different locations of Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey in 2018. Results of statistical analysis of the study data revealed that there were significant differences among the locations for all of the investigated traits. Additionally, among the locations the investigated traits were changed as following; dry matter content (DM) 88.66-91.58%, crude protein content (CP) 16.47-25.37%, insoluble protein content in acid detergent (ADP) 0.8%-1.10%, acid detergent fiber content (ADF) 22.08-29.54%, neutral detergent fiber content (NDF) 29.71-%43.85%, calcium (Ca) content 1.22-1.82%, phosphor (P) content 0.23-0,40%, Ca:P ratio 3.05-6.87, potassium (K) content 1.20-2.58%, magnesium (Mg) content 0.28-0.46% and K/(Ca+Mg) ratio 0.55-1.44. Results of the study revealed that dry forage of Salvia multicaulis species is both rich in terms of crude protein content and having a high digestibility level and its macro minerals content and K/(Ca+Mg) ratio to be sufficient for animal feeding. However, due to its too high level Ca:P ratio than critical top level (2:1), it is important to be careful against the risk of poisoning of animals when the forages of this species are used in animal feeding. Hence, additional research is required to determine the harmful effect of the species on the livestock health.
