Our results suggest that more hydrophobic CLs are more prone to S. epidermidis adhesion. Although the Ra appears to be related to S. epidermidis adhesion, the influence of Rku and Rsk on this variable remains unclear.
Treatment with CM-hUCESCs improved wound healing of alkali-injured corneas and showed a strong bactericidal effect on CLs. Patients using CLs and suffering from dry eye, allergies induced by commercial solutions, or small corneal injuries could benefit from this treatment.
Tear film BUT was not influenced by the time of day and moderate to strong correlation with MBI was observed in all four sessions. The software-assisted method proved useful and identified the need to clarify the BUT end-point and to limit the test to 15 seconds to improve observer repeatability.
Careful instillation of fluorescein does not affect normal TMH values. Fluorescein is washed out from the lower tear meniscus 5 min after instillation. Higher values of the TMH can be found at nasal and temporal locations compared to the center of the lower eye lid.
The EyeSys seems to measure more accurately, but the accuracy of the Orbscan was also acceptable, suggesting that both instruments are accurate and precise enough for research and clinical purposes. However, further studies of accuracy and repeatability of topographical measurements on human eyes generated by different topographers are necessary.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
