La contingencia sanitaria COVID-19 pasó a ser una más, aunque no cualquiera, entre las crisis de diferente naturaleza y envergadura que suelen afectar al sector turístico en la Península de Yucatán. Ante la recurrencia de múltiples crisis, las cooperativas que se dedican al turismo comunitario han adoptado diversas estrategias para sobrevivir a los períodos de adversidad, destacando entre ellas la pluriactividad que ha sido la forma histórica y cultural de respuesta de los hogares campesinos a las eventualidades de sus prácticas productivas. Sin embargo, debido a la prolongada duración de la reactivación del sector ocasionada por el confinamiento de la emergencia sanitaria, las empresas de turismo comunitario que ya han visto afectados sus ingresos en más del 50% con respecto al 2019, están surgiendo nuevas respuestas y resistencias para lidiar con la ambivalencia de afrontar la pérdida de dos temporadas de alta afluencia, por un lado, y el no poner en riesgo la seguridad sanitaria de sus comunidades, por el otro. Entre las estrategias de respuesta sobresalen el retorno al autoabasto, el intercambio solidario de productos entre empresas sociales, el ahorro y la previsión; entre las expresiones de resistencia el blindaje de los pueblos y los conflictos intercomunitarios vinculados a reaperturas. Partiendo de la experiencia de acompañamiento a 24 empresas de turismo comunitario ante dicha coyuntura, en la última sección presentamos una reflexión teórica para imaginar las posibles reconfiguraciones post-pandemia que podría experimentar un turismo comunitario “profundo”, a la luz de ideas-fuerza como las de proximidad y cotidianidad turística.
La investigación acumulada en tres décadas pertenecientes a campos como la biología de la conservación, lingüística y antropología de culturas contemporáneas, etnobiología y etnoecología, ha coincidido en un punto: la biodiversidad mundial será efectivamente preservada en la medida que se proteja la diversidad cultural y viceversa. La región de Mesoamérica que incluye territorio de México y de algunos países centroamericanos, es una de las regiones de mayor riqueza en el mundo, En efecto, México y Centroamérica no son únicamente ricos biológicamente, también presenta una alta diversidad cultural representada por más de 100 grupos indígenas, con una población estimada de 18 millones. Dado lo anterior, el presente trabajo sintetiza información sobre las relaciones entre pueblos indios y recursos naturales de la región. El objetivo principal de este proyecto fue la creación de un atlas Etnoecológico, a través del manejo espacialmente referenciado acerca de los pueblos indígenas de México y Centroamérica y sus relaciones con las principales zonas ecológicas, áreas naturales protegidas y áreas prioritarias para la conservación de la biodiversidad, Además, el atlas ofrece información sobre estudios publicados referentes a visión, conocimiento .y manejo de recursos naturales por parte de los grupos indígenas. Este atlas aporta herramientas para la planeación y comunicación entre comunidades y organizaciones indígenas; ONG's, gobiernos nacionales, agencias internacionales e instituciones académicas e investigadores interesados en la región.
Le secteur du tourisme communautaire, promu par le gouvernement mexicain depuis vingt ans, est très populaire dans la péninsule du Yucatán. Mais début mars, la crise sanitaire liée à la COVID-19 a stoppé net l’activité touristique. Avec le soutien du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement, nous avons effectué une évaluation de l’impact de la pandémie et des besoins de l’Alliance péninsulaire pour le tourisme communautaire (APTC) en raison de la COVID-19 en avril 2020. Toutes les réservations ont été annulées, résultant en une perte estimée à 14 millions de pesos en 2020. Les coopératives, grâce à leur solidarité, ont dans la plupart des cas réussi à garder leurs employés ou ont trouvé des moyens solidaires pour faire face à la crise, par le troc, le travail temporaire, la pêche et l’agriculture 1 .
