En este trabajo se presentan los resultados del estudio arqueomalacológico de las conchas de moluscos marinos procedentes de cinco sitios arqueológicos asignados al Holoceno tardío y de cuatro colecciones públicas y privadas del valle medio del río Negro y otras zonas vecinas de Norpatagonia. No se incluyen en el análisis los elementos perforados (cuentas y colgantes) presentes en la mayoría de los sitios del área. El objetivo principal del trabajo es evaluar la variabilidad de usos de estos objetos durante el Holoceno tardío. Se presenta la identificación taxonómica de los especímenes, se describen los tipos de artefactos predominantes en la muestra y se discuten los posibles usos y funciones. Los resultados muestran la predominancia de volútidos, disponibles en el litoral atlántico, con evidencias de formatización. En base al análisis se infiere que las conchas de moluscos marinos habrían sido trasladadas al interior norpatagónico para ser usadas como materia prima para la confección de artefactos, principalmente contenedores, utilizados en los campamentos residenciales de los grupos cazadores-recolectores. Por otra parte, no parece haber evidencias claras del uso de moluscos en contextos mortuorios.
En este trabajo se presentan los resultados del análisis del conjunto faunístico procedente del sitio arqueológico Pomona, con la finalidad de discutir el aprovechamiento de recursos. El sitio está ubicado en cercanías de un paleocauce en el sector sur del valle medio del río Negro y fue interpretado como un campamento residencial ocupado durante el Holoceno tardío final. El registro faunístico está integrado por restos óseos, exoesqueletos de moluscos y cáscaras de huevos de aves. Se determinó la presencia de especímenes óseos de mamíferos, aves, reptiles y peces, principalmente ingresados por actividad antrópica. Además, se encontraron evidencias de consumo de moluscos fluviales y cuentas realizadas con exoesqueletos de moluscos marinos. Se resaltan las características principales y algunas particularidades del conjunto y se discuten estos resultados en perspectiva regional considerando los antecedentes de otros sitios arqueológicos del valle del río Negro.
En este trabajo se presenta el análisis de los restos óseos y las cáscaras de huevo de aves del sitio arqueológico Colforta 1, ubicado en el valle medio del río Negro (Norpatagonia, Argentina), con el objetivo de determinar cuáles fueron los agentes responsables de su acumulación. Los resultados muestran que el conjunto habría sido depositado principalmente por las actividades antrópicas vinculadas con el consumo. El grupo de aves más capturado fueron los tinámidos, familia de aves medianas terrestres, principalmente martinetas (Eudromia elegans), aunque también se aprovecharon especies de diferentes tamaños y hábitos. Además, se habrían recolectado huevos de diversas especies, incluyendo rheidos y tinámidos. Se discute el aprovechamiento y el procesamiento antrópico de estos recursos en el sitio y su importancia en los valles fluviales de Norpatagonia durante el Holoceno tardío para las sociedades cazadoras-recolectoras.
Este trabajo presenta los primeros resultados de un proyecto interdisciplinario acerca del potencial arqueológico de la estancia Fortín Chacabuco, que conforma una primera instancia de construcción de una línea de base arqueológica en el Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi (APN). La integración conjunta de información geoambiental, arqueológica e histórica, se utilizó como punto de partida para elaborar un mapa y jerarquizar el espacio en términos del potencial de uso humano. Los resultados iniciales permitieron relevar al menos cinco sitios arqueológicos y otros rasgos relevantes que indican que la ocupación humana de este sector del Parque Nacional fue heterogénea espacial y temporalmente. Estos resultados, además, constituyen los primeros antecedentes para formular un plan de manejo de patrimonio arqueológico en colaboración con la Administración de la Estancia Fortín Chacabuco y los profesionales del Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi y la Dirección regional Patagonia Norte (APN).
