An experiment was carried out in Calcareous Low Ganges River Floodplain Soil (AEZ 12) at Pulses Research Sub-Station (PRSS), Madaripur during Kharif I of 2008 and 2009.The objectives were to evaluate the effect of zinc (Zn) and boron (B) on the yield and yield contributing characters of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) and to find out the optimum dose of Zn and B for yield maximization. There were four levels of zinc (0, 0.75, 1.5, and 3.0 kg/ha and boron (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2 kg/ha) along with a blanket dose of N20 P25 K35 S20 kg/ha. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications. Results showed that the combination of Zn1.5B1.0 produced significantly higher yield (3058 kg/ha) and (2631 kg/ha, in the year 2008 and 2009, respectively. The lowest yield (2173 kg/ha) and (1573 kg/ha, were found in control (Zn0B0) combination. The combined application of zinc and boron were observed superior to their single application in both the years. Therefore, the combination of Zn1.5B1.0 might be considered as suitable dose for mungbean cultivation in Bangladesh. But from regression analysis, the optimum treatment combination was Zn1.87 B1.24 kg/ha for Madaripur.   Keywords: Zinc; boron; mungbean; yield; yield contributing characters. The aim of this study was to estimate different body measurements and derive prediction equation for live weight of Jamuna basin sheep using different body measurement. A total of 520 individual records of sheep (47 males and 473 females) including all temporary at nine-month age (320), first pair permanent at 1.6 year age (161) and 2nd pair permanent at two years age (39) were collected from two Upazila of Sherpur district. Body weight (BW) was taken using a weighing scale and different measurements were taken using the tailor's tape measure and measuring stick while animals were on standing position. Data were analyzed with the help of SPSS-v-20 computer package program. Average BW, wither height(WH), rump height(RH), body length(BL), sternum height(SH), body depth(RD), bi-costal diameter(BD), ear length(EL), rump width(RW), head width(HW), rump length(RL), head length(HL), heart girth(HG), cannon bone circumference(CC) and muzzle diameter(MD) were 12.28±2.75 kg, 49.42±3.78, 54.04±3.88, 49.38±4.57, 28.06±3.00, 53.09±4.40, 15.07±2.58, 8.66±3.32, 15.72±2.33, 12.87±2.20, 14.30±2.29, 18.23±2.30, 55.02±4.71, 9.22±1.01, and 16.65±1.73cm, respectively. According to sex BW, WH, RH, SH, RD and CC were found significant (p<0.001), HG and MD were found significant(p<0.01). Stepwise multiple regression analysis according to agein all temporary groups showed that the body weight was found the best fitted equation having the highest R2value 64% (BW = - 15.53+0.24HG+0.13WH+0.16BD-.1RW+0.05EL) whereas in 1.3-1.6 and 1.9-2 years age group the R2 value for BD was 56 (BW = - 15.65+0.31HG+0.22WH)and 83% (BW = -24.51+0.21RH+0.35HG+0. 19BL-0.78RL+1.2RW-0.87HW), respectively. R2value for BD in male (BW = -28.91+0.43HG+0.35WH) and female (BW = -10.62+0.27HG+ 0.13WH+0.06BD-0.13HW+0.07BL-0.10SH-0.10RL) was 88and 59%, respectively. : This study was conducted in Rajshahi and Natore districts of northern area of Bangladesh for a period of three years (2007 to 2009). One hundred carp ponds were selected randomly and fish farmers were interviewed to reveal the existing constraints and prospects. Ten percent farmers reported multiple ownership as a problem and 16% farmers stated that lease value of pond is too high which reducing their profit level. Lack of quality fish seeds was reported by 33% farmers which results in low growth and high mortality of fishes. Nine percent carp farmers reported that inorganic fertilizers were not giving expected performances. Thirty three percent carp farmers failed to apply required inputs in due time due to lack of sufficient credit. Plankton bloom was recorded in 18% ponds. Three percent fish farmers were found to be affected by flood and drought. Eight percent farmers reported non-severe attack of disease. Fish poaching and poisoning were revealed as major constraints. Thirty six percent farmers mentioned lack of technical supports. Due to found constraints, the farmers failed to use inputs and experiences properly resulted in unsatisfactory fish production (3598.72±785.83 kg/ha/yr) to the carp farmers. Further research efforts are recommended to assess the specific impacts of recorded constraints on fish production.

Therapeutic effects of three different treatment regimes on the healing of myiasis wound in cattle were evaluated in the present study. The study was conducted in 15 myiasis affected cattle brought to the Veterinary Clinic, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Dressing with oil of turpentine on alternate days and intramuscular administration of combined penicillin (procaine penicillin 300000 units and benzyl penicillin sodium 100000 units/50 kg body weight) and streptomycin (0.5 g/50 kg body weight) daily for 7 days resulted healing of 96% wound depth and 94% wound area. Another treatment regime consisted of subcutaneous administration of ivermectin (0.2 mg/kg body weight) and combined penicillin and streptomycin daily for 7 days which produced recovery of 94% wound depth and 90% wound area. In case of wound dressing with tincture of iodine on alternate days and parenteral administration of combined penicillin and streptomycin resulted in healing of 78% wound depth and 36% wound area. Myiasis wounds were very prone to occur in the navel, vulva, scrotum and shoulder area. These wounds predominantly occur in the cattle of over 2 years. The females were more frequently affected than the males. The present study suggests that, local dressing of wound with oil of turpentine and intramuscular administration of combined penicillin and streptomycin may be practiced for the clinical management of myiasis in cattle.

The different parameters on physico-chemical characteristics especially the free fatty acid (FFA), peroxide values, iodine values, lipid class composition and major elements of shrimp head waste were studied. The oil was fractionated into mono, di and triglycerides by silicic acid column chromatography. The calcium ranged from 3.26mg/100 gm to 5.08 mg/100 gm, magnesium 4.79mg/100gm to 7.02 mg/100gm, sodium 51.09 mg/100gm to 73.05 mg/100gm and potassium 52.91 mg/100gm to 83.07 mg/100gm respectively.
