This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of papaya leaf (Carica papaya) and kalo jeera (Nigella sativa) seeds powdered supplementation in drinking water as a growth promoter in broiler chickens. A total of 20 Cobb-500 broiler chicks (day-old) were purchased from local hatchery (Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd.) and after seven days of acclimatization chicks were randomly divided into two groups, A (n=10) and B (n=10). The group A was kept as a control and not treated. The group B was supplemented with papaya leaf and kalo jeera powder with feed and water. Weekly observations were recorded for live body weight gain up to 5 th weeks and hematological tests were performed at 35 th day's age of broiler to search for hematological changes between control (A) and treatment (B) groups. The initial body weight of groups A and B on 1 st were 41.00±0.56 gm and 41.50±0.35 gm, respectively and after 35 th day of experiment final body weight were 1470±57.35 gm and 1720±58.56 gm, respectively and economics of production were analyzed and found that net profit per broiler was Tk. 8.91 and Tk. 20.69, respectively. The treatment group B was recorded statistically significant (at 1% level) increased (17.00%) for live body weight than that of control group A. The hematological parameters total erythrocyte count (TEC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and hemoglobin (Hb) estimation value of treatment group shows significant difference, while hemoglobin estimation does not show significant difference from control group. The results suggest that better growth performance could be achieved in broilers supplemented with papaya leaf and kalo jeera seeds.

A total of 40 Cobb-500 broiler chicks (day-old) were purchased from local hatchery (Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd.). After seven days of acclimatization chicks were randomly divided into two groups, A (n=20) and B (n=20). The group A was kept as a control and not treated. The group B was supplemented with tulsi leaf extract with feed and water. Weekly observations were recorded for live body weight gain up to 5 th weeks and hematological tests were performed at 35 th day's age of broiler to search for hematological changes between control (A) and treatment (B) groups. The initial body weight of groups A and B on 1st day of this experiment were 41.00±1.78 gm and 41.50±2.35 gm, respectively and after 35 th day of experiment final body weight were 1640± 74.83 gm and 1920± 33.91 gm, respectively and economics of production were analyzed and found that net profit per broiler was Tk. 21.46 and Tk. 32.29, respectively. The treatment group B was recorded statistically significant (at 1% level) increased (16.97%) for live body weight than that of control group A. The hematological parameters total erythrocyte count (TEC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), packed cell volume (PCV) and hemoglobin (Hb) estimation value of treatment group shows significant difference, while hemoglobin (Hb) estimation does not show significant difference from control group. The results suggest that better growth performance could be achieved in broilers supplemented with tulsi leaf extract.

The study was conducted to determine the efficacy of Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum ) leaves extract as a growth promoter in broiler. Thirty (30) day-old broiler chicks were purchased from Kazi hatchery and after seven days of acclimatization in the poultry shed of Pharmacology department randomly divided into two groups I0 and I1. No vaccination schedule was practiced and no antibiotics were added in rations. Group was supplemented with Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) leaves extract @ 2ml/litre in drinking water. Weekly observations were recorded for live body weight gain upto 5th weeks and blood test was performed at 17th and 35th day’s age of broiler to observe the hematological changes between control (Group) and treatment (Group) group. The treatment group (Group A) recorded statistically non- significant for live body weight at 1st and 2nd weeks than that of control group (Group B) but found statistically significant at 3rd (p<0.01), 4th (P<0.05) and 5th (P<0.01) weeks of age and the Hematological parameters (TEC, PCV, Hb and ESR) showed statistically significant (p<0.01) difference as compared to control group.Res. The present study is under taken to determine the body weight gain of broilers, to determine carcass yield or dressing percentage of broilers, to determine feed conversion ratio of broilers, to enumerate the colonizing micro flora in the gut of broilers. A total of 80 day-old broiler chicks were divided into two main groups I and II with 40 chicks in each. Group I was supplemented with Probiotic (Max Yeast Culture gm/kg feed) containing feed and chicks of group II was supplemented with conventional feed. Group I and II was again subdivided into two subgroups as group A, B and C, D respectively on 6 days of age. Birds of subgroups A and C were vaccinated with ND vaccine (BCRDV) and birds of subgroups C and D were kept as unvaccinated. The result evidenced the following information: (a) The total viable count (TVC) and total coliform count (TCC) were significantly (P<0.01) lower in experimental birds as compared to control at 14, 28 and 32 days of age both in vaccinated and non-vaccinated birds. It was always found that the lower TVC in probiotic fed broilers as compared to conventional fed broilers (b) The total lactobacilli count (TLC) was significantly (P<0.01) higher in experimental birds as compared to control at 14, 28 and 32 days of age both in vaccinated and nonvaccinated birds. So it can be said that Max Yeast Culture supplementation can reduce the growth of pathogenic microorganism and increase the growth of beneficial microorganism

A study on clinical observation, management and complication of foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak in cattle was carried out in Chuadanga sadar upazilla during 24 weeks period from July 2012 to January 2013. Clinical data were collected from 108 cattle of both sexes. The effect of season, breed, age, sex and purpose of keeping cattle on the incidence of the disease was analyzed. Seasonal variation of the disease was significant. Crossbred was found to be more susceptible than local breed. The prevalence of the disease was found significantly higher in male than female. The clinical prevalence of FMD increased in the month of November (31.48%). The prevalence of FMD in other months varies from 5-21%. Clinical observation of FMD affected cattle showed fever, anorexia, salivation and erosive lesion on oral mucosa and inter digital region of foot. Antibacterial drug could be recommended for clinical practice to control secondary bacterial infection in complicated FMD cases.
