The kinetic features of the homopolycondensation of furfuryl alcohol in an aqueous medium in the presence of acids of different strengths have been studied. The second order of the reaction with respect to the monomer has been established. A kinetic scheme of the polycondensation reaction has been proposed, and the activation parameters of the process have been calculated.
The conditions and mechanism of formation of crosslinked polymers from furfuryl oligomers have been studied. A new mechanism of formation of crosslinked furfuryl polymers in a neutral medium is proposed. This mechanism has been confirmed experimentally by investigating reactions of formation of crosslinked polymers based on dimethylol furan oligomer.
A study was made of the conditions of heteropolycondensation of furfuryl alcohol with formaldehyde at different molar ratios. A new mechanism of formation and a new structure of furfurylformaldehyde oligomers by means of separating the initial polycondensation products are proposed. Earlier we reported on certain features of the kinetics [1] and mechanism [2] of formation of furfuryl oligomers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
