<p>This study aims to determine of the reproductive performance of beef cows consists are Simpo<br />cow, Limpo cow and PO cow reared on the livestock. The research was conducted by survey on beef<br />cattle 60 head in the District Mojogedang, Central Java Province from December 2014 through<br />February 2015. The research parameter is post partum estrus (PPE), post partum mating (PPM),<br />service per conception ( S / C), days open (DO). Results of the study were analyzed descriptively.<br />Reproductive performance of Simpo cow, Limpo cow and PO cow are consecutive PPE: 3:56 ± 0.73<br />months, 3.93 ± 0:40 months, and 6.75 ± 4.68 months, PPM: 3.85 ± 0.70 months, 3.79 ± 0:51 months,<br />and 4:42 ± 1.23 months, S / C: 1.45 ± 0:20 times, 1.74 ± 0:07 time, and 1:38 ± 0:38 times, DO: 5:33 ±<br />0:58 months, 8:44 ± 4.65 months, and 9:27 ± 5.93 months, CI: 14:33 ± 0:58 months, 14:44 ± 0.66<br />months, and 14:44 ± 0.66 months. The conclusion shows that the reproductive performance of the<br />Simpo cow, Limpo cow and PO cow in District Mojogedang appears that the value of post-partum<br />estrus (PPE) and post partum mating (PPM) is panjang.Service per conception (S / C) is high. Days<br />open (DO) and calving interval (CI) are both still long.</p>
<p><em>This research was conducted to know the production efficiency of beef cattle in smallholder farmer in a dry farming area at dry season. Research has been started on June and finished on September (dry season) at smallholder farmer in the village Kemejing, Semin subdistrict, district Gunungkidul, DIY. The research materials are 28 heads of beef cattle from 17 farmers, which consist of 10 heads of PO breed, 10 heads of a Simpo breed, and 8 heads of Limpo breed with 292.25 kg of initial body weight. This research was using Participatory Rural Appraisal method which is a collecting data process that an active teamwork between data collector and farmer. Collected parameter are feed intake, average daily gain (ADG), feed efficiency, feed cost per gain (FC/G), and income over feed cost (IOFC). Data resulting from this research are 8.42 kg/head/day of feed intake, 0.19 kg/head/day of ADG, 0.021 of feed efficiency, Rp 46.166,62 of feed cost per gain, and Rp 3.985,55 of income over feed cost. It can be concluded that the efficient production of beef cattle in smallholder farmer at the dry area is low because average daily gain, feed cost per gain and income over feed cost produced are extremely small so if the calculated economic result is less favorable.</em></p>
<em>This study was aimed to determine the effect of protected soybean groats-Lemuru fish oil in the diet on performance of males Simental Ongole Crossbred. The materials used in this study were 9 heads of males Simental Ongole Crossbred cattle with an average initial weight of 467.55 ± 30.89 kg. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting 3 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were P0 = 30% rice straw fermentation + 70% basal concentrate; P1 = 30% rice straw fermentation + 55% basal concentrate + 15% ogf unprotected soybean groats-lemuru fish oil, and P2 = P1 = 30% rice straw fermentation + 55% basal concentrate + 15% of protected soybean groats-lemuru fish oil. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the use of protected soybean groats-lemuru fish oil in the diet did not affect the initial body weight, final body weight, average daily gain, FCR and FER. Additionally, the treatment significantly affected dry matter intake and the income of the feedlot has increased. Conclusions of this study was the use of 15% protected soybean groats-lemuru fish oil in the diet increased production performance and income of male simental Ongole Crossbred feedlot.</em>
<p>KTT Maju Utomo dan Ngudi Berkah Desa Wonorejo Kecamatan Gondangrejo Karanganyar berusaha di bidang penggemukan sapi Simpo dan Limpo. Permasalahan yang dihadapi peternak adalah pertambahan berat badan harian sapi 0,2 kg/ekor/hari. Untuk itu diperlukan upaya peningkatan produksi melakui aplikasi inovasi konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan berbahan pakan lokal. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah aplikasi penggunaan konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan ternak sapi. Tim pengabdian dengan peternak bersama-sama merancang penyelesaian masalah dengan menetapkan upaya penyelesaian masalah melalui penggunaan konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan. Metode penerapan meliputi (1) instruksional dan dialog melalui kegiatan program penyuluhan menggunakan teknik FGD (<em>Focus Group Disscusion</em>), (2) evaluasi kemajuan tingkat pengetahuan dan pemahaman materi, (3) pelatihan dan penerapan konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan menggunakan mesin <em>mixer</em>, <em>grinder</em> dan <em>chopper</em>, (4) monitoring dan evaluasi berkelanjutan. Kesimpulan aplikasi penggunaan konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan pada usaha penggemukan sapi telah berdampak terhadap mempercepat waktu penggemukan dari 4 bulan menjadi 2 bulan (50%), meningkatkan pertambahan berat badan dari 0,25 kg/ekor/hari menjadi 0,83 kg/ekor/hari (67,8 %), peningkatan pendapatan peternak dari Rp 1.416.000 menjadi Rp 2.376.000 (235,6%), keuntungan yang diperoleh peternak meningkat dari Rp 891.050 menjadi Rp 1.390.450 (56%). Penggunaan inovasi konsentrat pemacu pertumbuhan mampu meningkatkan produksi dan memaksimalkan potensi genetis unggul sapi silangan serta meningkatkan pendapatan peternak.</p>
