Este trabajo informa de los resultados de un estudio comparativo de cuatro entrevistas de divulgación científica en sus dos versiones, las entrevistas orales entre científicos y periodistas y sus correspondientes versiones escri- tas. Desde una perspectiva pragmático-discursiva, se analizaron, cualitativa y cuantitativamente, sus características retórico-lingüísticas y las variacio- nes resultantes se sistematizaron de acuerdo al marco conceptual de Halliday (1985). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que las estrategias discursivas empleadas por el periodista para reformular el discurso oral responden, fundamentalmente, a operaciones de omisión, expansión y paráfrasis y que ellas no son sólo convencionales sino también intencionales. Concluimos que estas operaciones inciden, respectivamente, en los aspectos ideacional, interpersonal y textual correspondientes, a su vez, a las dimensiones de campo, tenor y modo.
