The aims of the research were to examine the effect of Hello English application on students’ English vocabulary development at the seven-grade level of SMP PGRI Selapajang Jaya in academic year 2020/2021 and to know the perceptions of students on utilizing the Hello English App to increase English words. This study applied a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design. The seventh-grade students of SMP PGRI Selapajang Jaya in the academic year 2020/2021 was used as the population; also, the research sample was both classes consisting of 30 students in each class (experimental and control). The researcher provided a multiple-choice test as the instrument. The researcher employed statistical calculating of the t-test formula with 5% significance level utilizing SPSS 22 version. In accordance with the research findings, it discovered the mean score of a post-test in the treatment class was higher than the conventional class (76.67 > 62.50). The result of t-test showed that t0 (4.184) was higher than ttable (2.003); thus, it indicates that Ha is acceptable while Ho is rejectable, and it is concluded that utilizing Hello English has a significance impact on the development of students’ English words at the seventh-grade level of SMP PGRI Selapajang Jaya in academic year 2020/2021. Questionnaire was also applied as another research instrument to measure students’ perception in learning English words employing the Hello English application. As recorded by the questionnaire results, the students agree that the Hello English App can assist them in English learning, particularly English words; also, they felt satisfied and loved the learning process when they employed the Hello English App to acquire English words.
The study is aimed to find out The Correlation of Students’ Reading Interest, Vocabulary Mastery and Their Reading Comprehension at Tenth Grade of SMA Paradigma. The method of the research used quantitative research. The population was 175 students and 40 students as a sample. The result showed that (1) There is no positive significant correlation between students’ reading interest and their reading comprehension at SMA Paradigma Kabupaten Tangerang in Academic Year 2020/2021. With the value t_count < t_table (1,238 < 1,687). (2) There is positive significant correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehesion at tenth grade of SMA Paradigma Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021. The result of the variable students’ vocabulary mastery is 2,473 which means t_count > t_table (2,473 > 1,687). (3) There is a positive simultaneous correlation of students’ reading interest, vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension at tenth grade of SMA Paradigma Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021. The result of students’ reading interest and vocabulary mastery on their reading comprehension with a significance value of 0,005 < 0,05 it can be concluded that the greater the interest in reading, the greater their vocabulary mastery, and automatically students will have a good reading comprehension.
This article aimed to analyze the student learning experiences during the pandemic at Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang. The researchers used a qualitative method. The collecting data used interviews and observation. Interview conducted on several lecturers and academics to get data analysis. Then examined the results of the interviews to get the essence and data findings that could answer the problems of this study and hypotheses. Based on data analysis the researchers concluded that the digital or technology-based learning experience during the remote learning period in response to the pandemic has indicated that learning was exciting because either lecturers and students have established very synergistic collaborations to produce learning quality that was as expected. Abstract It goes without saying that vocabulary mastery has a pivotal role in language learning. The more vocabulary the students acquire, the easier the students master the language skills. However, to acquire vocabulary is not an easy task for most students. To acquire vocabulary means that learners need to understand the aspects of vocabulary such as meaning, grammar, pronunciation, and spelling. However, the subjects of this study found it difficult to understand all the aspects. To overcome the problem, teacher needs to explore the use of teaching media. One of media that can be used in teaching vocabulary is song, but to make it more fun and practical, teacher can make use of online music player Joox, one of mostly used music player. This study explores the use of Joox to teach English vocabulary and describe students' responses to the teaching model. In general, students show good responses to the implementation of vocabulary learning using Joox. Therefore, it is recommended for teachers to use it as a medium in teaching vocabulary, and the students to use it for independent learning. Keywords: Joox, teaching media, teaching vocabulary
English essay writing is a skill that university students should develop. However, many students find it difficult to acquire that skill. Technology provides many advantages in teaching and learning process, not to mention to help students develop their writing skill. Andy English is one of application like instant messangers, but the users can do conversation or chatting with robot. The aim of this research was to know the effect of Andy English Application in improving students’ writing skill. This research was conducted for 2nd semester students of Economic Education at University of Islamic Syekh Yusuf. This study was quantitative research with a pre-experimental design one group pre-test and post-test. There were 12 students as a sample. The data collected by the pre test, treatment and post test. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that Asymp.sig (2 tailed) is less than α (0.000 < 0.05), it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. By calculating the data it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of applying Andy English apps in improving students’ writing skill. Andy English apps also can improve students’ vocabulary and develop self-confident in their writing skill. So it is recommended for the teacher to overcome any problems in learning English especially in writing.
