La edición electrónica ha transformado el modelo de negocio editorial en España, configurando un sistema dual. Por una parte un sector editorial mayoritariamente analógico, caracterizado por una producción de títulos abundante, con tiradas cada vez mas cortas y con cifras de devolución elevadas. Un sector en el que elementos de la cadena del libro como las librerías están sujetos a graves tensiones y a una situación de crisis generalizada. Y un sector digital, alimentado en parte por las editoriales tradicionales que están desarrollando proyectos digitales, bien reconvirtiendo el catálogo bien creando colecciones nuevas. Un sector en el que las editoriales independientes revisten una importancia significativa con el lanzamiento de colecciones, modelos de negocio en la nube y sistemas de venta y distribución adaptados a un publico lector en permanente transformación, para el que las redes sociales y la lectura colaborativa es cada vez más importante. Se estudian las particularidades de ambos modelos y las consecuencias que se extrae de ellos para el futuro de la edición en España. Palabras clave. Introducción España constituye un ejemplo singular para el estudio de la irrupción de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en general y del libro electrónico en particular. Se trata de un país de tradición editorial antigua, con mas de cinco siglos de existencia de la imprenta, con una poderosa industria editorial, que utiliza el español como plataforma de lanzamiento de las decenas de miles de títulos que publica cada año (de hecho es la cuarta potencia editorial del mundo), con editoriales integradas en grupos multinacionales y con una fuerte proyección exterior. Sin embargo, a pesar de estas circunstancias, objetivamente favorables a una implantación sólida de la lectura, esta reviste cifras muy modestas comparadas con otros países de nuestro entorno. En este contexto en el que la lectura impresa siempre ha constituido el reto para las políticas culturales desarrolladas por los responsables administrativos, hace dos años irrumpió en el mercado editorial español el libro electrónico, tímidamente primero, con gran fuerza después, obligando a un reposicionamiento de las estrategias editoriales y a una modificación de los modelos de negocio imperantes. Las editoriales se vieron en la obligación de definir sus estrategias a corto plazo empujadas por un fenómeno que no admitia demoras: las grandes plataformas de venta y distribución de libros electrónicos como Amazon, Apple, Barnes and Noble o Google estaban desembarcando en el mercado nacional. Fruto de esto fue el surgimiento de movimientos de migración hacia lo digital por una parte, y de la aparición de una constelación de nuevas editoriales, o de propuestas innovadoras en las ya asentadas, por otra. La difusión del conocimiento científico se materializa en su escritura, publicación y circulación. La Ciencia Abierta es, por su la naturaleza, una plataforma para el diálogo, fomentando más intercambios y estimulando a los investigadores adaptar sus prácticas de publicación y difusión, lo que les permitirá reducir los costes, la mejora de los contenidos académicos, así como el fomento de una mayor circulación y generación del conocimiento. El objetivo es la realización de propuestas sobre las acciones que los investigadores deben llevar a cabo en el ámbito de la investigación como conversación, es decir, la integración de la escritura académica en la Ciencia Abierta y el intercambio de datos y resultados de la investigación.
