Riau province has Malay Arabic script as a traditional cultural heritage of ancient characters that should be preserved; this script is adapted from Arabic writing. This script from Malay Arabic has a unique form that is different from the original Arabic writing adaptation, which is read in a combination of letters forming latin meanings as an introduction to the everyday language of Riau Malay people in the earlier kingdom. Malay Arabic writing became an introduction to the local content of traditional languages in schools. To foster a love for preserving culture, in accordance with current technology that is able to recognize scripting patterns when written in paper, a knowledge base was created by using Matlab software by applying a convolutional Neural Network (CNN) artificial neural network algorithm capable of recognizing script patterns well. The result of image input in the form of handwriting written on paper then in the scanner in the form of JPEG image format. Testing was carried out on four Arabic Malay characters namely alif, ha, la, kho and nun. The result of training for the letter alif (a) epoch is obtained 98 out of 100 iterations with a training length of 3 seconds, furthermore, in validation performance with a result of 0.25013 on epoch 92 of 98 epoch for gradient letters with a value of 0.0071991 on the next epoch 98 in the extras produces an accuracy value of 0.6548 which states the correct result accordingness because it is close to the alif script. In the process of train input the letter kho obtained epoch 80 out of 100 iterations with a training process for 3 seconds, validation performance 0.25153 on epoch 74 out of 80 epoch for check validation with a value of 0.0011682 on the next epoch 80 in the extras obtained an extra value of 0.9326 stated the value is incorrect. Because the result of the extras results in an image that does not come close to the kho letter. Therefore, a study of how the system can recognize Malay Arabic writing patterns with the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method because it is very good at identifying image pattern features with an accuracy value of 4.12% of the 10 sample image patterns that have been inputted. With the introduction of imagery patterns from the extraction of features scanned Malay Arabic characters can help the findings of ancient Malay Arabic script as morphological learning of the validity of abstraction of Malay Arabic script is good
The research aims to find the relation between economics with education in Indonesia and its impact on economic building. It is qualitative research by using a theoretical review approach. The data are taken from the Education in Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the national education system and some theories related to economy and education, then analyzed in the review forms of theory. The result of this research is education, and the economy in Indonesia are two interrelated sides. A strong economy is needed to build the quality of education. Meanwhile, to create a strong economy, educated people are needed. Parents with better economic status tend to provide quality education. One of the ways that can be done to implement education is the government's commitment to budgeting education financing at least 20% of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget / Regional Revenue and Learning Budget (APBN / APBD). Building the economy builds the economic, social, and moral sectors so that monopoly does not occur. Human capital investment in the form of education will be more profitable than physical investment. It is concluded that a good education will produce people who can drive the economy better.
This research was designed to measure the level of anxiety faced by the students and its effect on students' performance, and the factors causing the anxiety. This study is a descriptive research. The sample of this study was the students of English Department who took speech subject at STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat academic year 2018/2019. The participants of the research were 12 (25%) out of 50 students. The researcher used three instruments in collecting the data; speaking test, questionnaire, and interview. The speaking test was a speech test and the students' performance was scored by using a scoring rubric. The questionnaire was adapted from Horwitz et al. (1986) and the scores from the Likert scale were then tabulated to identify students' level of anxiety. Last, interview was administered to find out the internal and external factors causing the anxiety. The result shows that the students, as a whole, have medium level of anxiety in the apprehension of communication, low in the evaluation of negative fear, and also low in the test of anxiety. The researcher found out that the students with low level of anxiety in those three types of anxiety performed well in the speech test. Thus, it implies that anxiety affects students' performance. From the interview, it can be concluded that the students' anxiety derived mostly from the internal factors; fear of being laughed at or their unconfidence.
This study was aimed at analyzing the students' ability in comprehending reading text of seventh semester students at English Department of FBS Universitas Negeri Padang. This study was descriptive research. Samples of the research were 27 students by using cluster random sampling. The reading test was used to collect data. The results showed that students' ability in getting inferential meaning was in moderate level, and the students' ability in getting critical meaning was also in moderate level. In conclusion, the seventh semester students' ability in understanding inferential and critical meaning was in moderate level. Therefore, the lecturers are expected to improve the students' ability in understanding referential and critical meaning by giving more practices in reading class or outside the classroom. First, in general, the students' ability in understanding the implicit meaning was moderate. The result found that the score distribution obtained by the students. From 27 students taken as sample, nine students got scores 55-59 or 33.33 %, and 12 students got range scores from 60 to 74. The score table also indicates that no students got 85-100. In addition, only 5 students got range scores from 75 to 84.
