The Student's t-test was used to statistically prove the existence of a significant difference between mean values of several meteorological variables for the active and inactive phases of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) in the Eastern Amazon. The wavelet transform was used to identify 14 cases of the MJO occurrence, in which the analyses were performed. The analysis shown that the variables influenced by the convection such as outgoing longwave radiation, mean and maximum temperature, and insolation presented differences, between each MJO phase, at significance levels of 95% or higher.
BIOCLIMATIC DYNAMIC OF BLACK FLY OF CITRUS IN BRAZIL ABSTRACT:The climate has a direct influence on the animals, been considered one of the main determinant factors of the biogeographical zones on the planet. Excess of moisture in the air, caused by long periods of precipitation, associated with intense fluctuations in air temperature, have direct effects on the population dynamics of heterothermic animals. These influences interfere with many aspects, mainly on installation, infestation and dissemination of these animals. The citrus blackfly in Brazil came from the State of Pará, on the Amazonian region with a predominance of high humidity and high temperatures, and since then has caused considerable damage to citrus crops in the country. The main objective of this study was evaluation of areas with the greatest potential for agricultural pest infestation of this kind, and their seasonal dynamics in relation to climate factors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
