[eng] Abstract This article analyses the genesis and development of agricultural associations in Spain, between the Liberal Revolution and the crisis of 1898. It displays both the continuities and discontinuities which existed in the organisation of interests and collective action in the countryside in the transition between the Ancien Regime and the new society created by the revolutionary process. It establishes three periods in the evolution of associations in liberal Spain, linked to both structural and conjunctural factors, and traces the role played by the State in the shaping of corporatist formulae in the sector.
