Située dans le Nord-Ouest tunisien, la Khroumirie est un massif montagneux de faible altitude (carte n° 1), qui présente un milieu original, caractérisé par un couvert forestier important (photo n° 1) et un climat méditerranéen humide (jusqu'à plus de 1 500 mm de précipitations moyennes annuelles), au sein d'un pays principalement marqué par les contraintes de l'aridité.Cela se traduit par des enjeux environnementaux particulièrement importants, qui se focalisent sur des ressources naturelles pour lesquelles la région joue un rôle majeur au niveau national : d'une part, l'eau et d'autre part, les ressources forestières, auxquelles nous allons nous intéresser, notamment le bois et le liège, dans le contexte d'un déficit national croissant en matière de produits forestiers (Daly Hassen, 1997).
