Yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) yield and longevity have been drastically reduced by bacterial spot (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. passiflorae -Xap) and passion fruit woodiness disease (PWD) (Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus -CABMV). This study was aimed at evaluating the reaction of 11 genotypes of yellow passion fruit, based on the reaction of their progenies, to both mechanically inoculated Xap and CABMV, under greenhouse conditions. There was a progressive increase in bacterial spot and PWD severity with time. BRS Gigante Amarelo, MAR20#12, and MAR20#34 were selected as the progenies with lowest bacterial spot severity and disease progress over time. MAR20#2005, EC-L-7, UnB2015-1, and EC-3-0 presented the lowest PWD severity and disease progress over time. These progenies, along with individual plants from other progenies in which disease severity was significantly low until the last evaluation, will be cloned and tested again for Xap and CABMV, including other isolates.
This study analyzed the accuracy of clinical indicators of ineffective health management in hemodialysis patients. A diagnostic accuracy study was performed in 200 chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis during the first half of 2015. Measures of sensitivity and specificity were calculated using latent class analysis. Ineffective health management was present in 66.28% of patients. Accurate clinical indicators included expressed nonadherence to treatment, daily life choices ineffective to achieve health goals, expression of difficulty with prescribed regimens, inappropriate use of medicines, lack of expression of willingness to control the disease, irregular attendance of dialysis sessions, and infection. Hemodialysis may trigger a set of clinical indicators that predict the presence of ineffective health management. This knowledge provides evidence to clinical practices for hemodialysis patients and contributes to the best clinical performance of nurse practitioners.
Trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica que objetivou relacionar as medidas educativas para a promoção da integridade da pele em idosos com as Cartas de Promoção da Saúde. Realizou-se a busca nas bases de dados CINAHL, SCOPUS, LILACS e COCHRANE, nos portais CAPES e BVS e na biblioteca PUBMED, mediante a aplicação dos descritores Health Education; Skin e Aged. Os resultados dos 7 artigos analisados apontaram como principais medidas educativas: inspeção diária da pele, cuidados com calçados e com os pés, uso regular de protetor solar e mudanças de decúbito. Essas medidas estavam relacionadas com as seguintes Cartas de Promoção da Saúde: Ottawa, Declaração de Santafé de Bogotá e Declaração de Jacarta. Conclui-se que as medidas educativas, baseadas nas Cartas, são de grande relevância para a criação de uma cultura de saúde, com enfoque na população e no indivíduo como agentes executores imprescindíveis para o alcance da promoção da saúde.

Objetivo: Analisar as estratégias metodológicas utilizadas para a validação de tecnologias educacionais em teses e dissertações de enfermagem no Brasil. Método: Trata-se de um estudo documental bibliométrico. A busca foi realizada no catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior. O mapeamento considerou o perfil das produções e das tecnologias educacionais, as estratégias de validação e a aplicação da lei de Zipt. A análise foi realizada com o Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 21.0 e o IRaMuTeQ 0.7 alpha 2. Resultados: Obtiveram-se 156 produções. O perfil das produções foi de dissertações de mestrado acadêmico, consideradas estudos metodológicos, estando a maioria desenvolvida na região Nordeste do País. As tecnologias educacionais corresponderam a materiais impressos ou audiovisuais, direcionados à comunidade e à área de enfermagem médico-cirúrgica. O processo de validação ocorreu, em sua maioria por concordância, com participação de juízes especialistas e da população-alvo, com uso de instrumentos validados e aplicação do Índice de Validação de Conteúdo. A partir da aplicação da Lei de Zipt, destacaram-se validação, juiz e estudo metodológico. Conclusão: O mapeamento propiciou a visibilidade da produção científica, indicando um conhecimento com distribuição desigual no que tange à região onde se produz tal capital intelectual.
Objetivo: identificar os aspectos sociodemográficos e clínicos associados à qualidade de vida de pacientes em hemodiálise. Método: estudo transversal realizado com 200 indivíduos durante o primeiro semestre de 2015. Utilizou-se roteiro estruturado de anamnese e exame físico para obtenção das variáveis de interesse, além do instrumento SF-36 para avaliar os domínios da qualidade de vida. Fez-se uso de testes de quiquadrado, exato de Fisher e U de Mann-Whithey para analisar associação estatística entre as variáveis, considerando-se p valor.
The use of resistant varieties is a promising strategy for passion fruit woodiness disease (PWD) (Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus -CABMV) and bacterial spot (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. passiflorae -Xap) control in yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims). This study aimed at evaluating the reaction of nine genotypes of yellow passion fruit to both mechanically inoculated CABMV and Xap, under protected cultivation. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design with subdivided parcels comprised of nine treatments, four repetitions, six replications per genotype, and five evaluations. Disease incidence (% plants infected) and severity (% of total leaf area with necrotic lesions or leaf symptoms) were calculated at 7-day intervals. All genotypes evaluated were classified as moderately susceptible to PWD. MAR20#10, MAR20#41, and Rosa Intenso were classified as moderately resistant to bacterial spot whereas the remaining genotypes were classified as moderately susceptible. Genotypes Rosa Intenso, MAR20#41, MAR20#15, and MSCA stood out for presenting the lowest PWD mean severity scores as well as the greatest numbers of plants presenting resistance to PWD after five evaluations. MAR20#10, MAR20#41, and Rosa Intenso demonstrated the lowest bacterial spot mean severity scores. Among the genotypes selected, Rosa Intenso and MAR20#41 were the most promising genotypes for presenting the lowest severity scores for both PWD and bacterial spot disease.
Tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) and Tomato infectious chlorosis virus (TICV) are the two Solanaceae-infecting Crinivirus species (family Closteroviridae) of worldwide importance. In Brazil, only ToCV has been detected under natural conditions infecting tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum), and potato (S. tuberosum), causing foliar chlorosis (1, 3). However, there are no formal reports of alternative weed hosts of ToCV. During crop surveys in Capão Bonito, São Paulo State, Brazil (May 2011), a high incidence (above 20%) of plants of the weed, cut leaf ground cherry (Physalis angulata L.) growing around and within a tomato (cv. Alambra) field with a high incidence of ToCV, were found displaying interveinal chlorosis on the lower leaves, similar to those induced by magnesium deficiency. The P. angulata plants also had high populations of whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci biotype B). Ten leaf samples were taken from individual symptomatic ground cherry and tomato plants for Crinivirus testing. Total nucleic acids were extracted from 2 g of symptomatic and healthy leaf tissues of both hosts using Whatman CF-11 cellulose (Sigma) as described (4). The purified double stranded RNA samples were used as a template in reverse transcription (RT)-PCR using specific primers targeting the p22 gene region in the genome of ToCV (2). Only the 566-bp ToCV-specific amplicon was detected in all field samples. Sequences of samples from the P. angulata and tomato cDNA amplicons were identical to each other (GenBank Accession No. JX187514) and they showed 99% identity with the ToCV RNA 1 from a tomato isolate from Florida (AY903447). This confirmed the initial hypothesis of Crinivirus infection. Cuttings of symptomatic P. angulata plants were also obtained and kept in a voile cage under greenhouse conditions together with healthy seedlings of P. angulata and the begomovirus-resistant inbred tomato line ‘TX-468RG.’ Fifty aviruliferous B. tabaci (biotype B) adults were placed in the cage. Similar symptoms were observed 50 days after exposure to whiteflies in both hosts. Transmission to P. angulata and to ‘TX-468RG’ was also confirmed via sequencing of ToCV-specific amplicon, demonstrating the infectivity of the isolate to both hosts. To our knowledge, this is the first report of P. angulata as a natural host of ToCV in Brazil. This weed is often present in the commercial fields because of its natural tolerance to herbicides currently used in tomato production. The ToCV-infected P. angulata plants might serve as alternative sources of inoculum for the surrounding tomato fields. The environmental persistence of P. angulata combined with its intense whitefly colonization might allow a year-round ToCV exposure for tomato plants under field conditions in this major production area of Brazil where at least 25 million tomato plants are cultivated annually.
