BACKGROUND: Perspectives of diabetes mellitus patients on family support received during the treatment of their disease at home has high complexity. The family’s intention to help patients to take care of themselves at home can lead to misperceptions or is not well accepted by diabetes mellitus patients. AIM: The aim of the study was to explore the support provided by families in the care of diabetes mellitus patients at home based on the patient’s perspective. METHODS: A phenomenological study using semi-structured questions was chosen as a design in this study. A total of 19 participants were recruited using criteria including being diagnosed with diabetes mellitus for at least 1 year, outpatient, and willing to participate in the study. Data analysis used seven steps of descriptive phenomenological analysis from Colaizzi including data recognition, identification of significant statements, formulating meanings, grouping themes, developing complete descriptions, producing fundamental structures, and seeking verification of fundamental structures. RESULTS: This research shows that the support needed by participants comes from the nuclear family. The first theme identified is the family function as participants’ perceived support. The second theme identified is the family role as participants’ perceived support. The fourth third theme identified is perceptions of family support received. Moreover, the final theme found in this study is perception of spiritual support by the family. CONCLUSION: This research implies that diabetes mellitus patients need support from their families to accept the disease and eventually volunteer to carry out their disease care at home.
BACKGROUND: The role of mother with HIV/AIDS in caring for their children has its own complexities. The mother plays a role in taking care of the family as well as being the caregiver for her children. Mothers with HIV-AIDS need to take care of themselves and their children who are either infected or not. Mothers can do multiple roles if their partner leaves them. AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine the life experiences of mothers with HIV-AIDS in childcare. METHODS: A phenomenological study was chosen as a design to explore the phenomenon of mothers with HIV-AIDS in parenting their children using in-depth interviews. Participants were drawn based on a purposive sample of seven people. The participant’s considerations were the wife who was diagnosed with HIV-AIDS positive and was registered as a patient managed by the HIV-AIDS program at the Serang City Health Center; the participants received ARV treatment, good general condition, able to communicate well, and cooperatively. The data analysis used was Colaizzi. RESULTS: The results of the study generate four new themes: Expectation of negative status of the loved ones, lamentations of wives with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) status, management of sick child care and HIV testing, tendencies of authoritarian, and permissive parenting in children. CONCLUSION: Therefore, it is important to increase peer group counseling on the process of disease acceptance, management of sick children management, and implementation of HIV testing that can be accessed by family members of PLWHA.

The aim of this study was to explore the family experience of treating diabetes mellitus patients at home. Methods: A semi-structured phenomenological approach including inductive thematic analysis was used in this research. Thirteen family members of diabetes patients participated in the discussion. Participant recruitment was focused on families that have treated diabetes patients for more than 1 year with no complications. Data saturation occurred after 2-3 meetings per participant. Results: The experiences of the family members while caring for diabetes mellitus patient can be used to determine the presence of 5 themes: family feelings that appear when caring for diabetes mellitus patients, patient adherence to taking medication, patient’s disobedience of their diet, patient’s disobedience of activity and the family expectations of the futureConclusion: In every theme, family experience obstacles arise between the families’ wants and the patients’ needs. Diet and activity became a major obstacle to diabetic care at home. Some topics needed more attention, such as the information and support provided for the family.
Blood glucose stability is important for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in order to reduce the risk of co-morbidity due to diabetes mellitus. The stability of blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus was influenced by several factors such as age, sex, duration of illness, race, diabetes history, knowledge, diet, and activity. This study aims were to determine the factors that correlate with the patient's blood glucose stability. This study use cross-sectional approach with 120 samples recruited using a consecutive approach and used Google forms to collect the data. This study analysis used The Independent t-test and Pearson's correlation test to find out a correlation between variables. Study results shows that most respondents are female, comes from the Sundanese ethnicity, has less five years of diabetes history, have a high education level, have family members with diabetes mellitus, and have co-morbidity. This study also shows that the average of respondent was 41 years old, had a high level of knowledge, was quite active, was adhere to undergo treatment, was adhere to a diet, and had stable blood glucose. Statistical tests shows that age (p-value 0.000), gender (pvalue 0.024), ethnicity (p-value 0.009), level of education (p-value 0.000), co-morbidity (p-value .003), and knowledge (p-value 0.037) affect the blood glucose stability in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patient. This study does not find the correlation of other variables with the stability of blood glucose which may be related to the physical condition of the patient and other factors.

The broiler farming in partnership system is not only about getting a lot of profit but also how to maintain partnershipsto keep thebusiness.Basically broiler farming in partnership system formed because of the mutual need between farmers and partner companies. Usually, farmers who choose a partnership system because they have limited capital and they want low risk while the partner companies have limited area and worker. This qualitative research was conducted in Blitar Regency which became one of broiler farming centers in Indonesia. This paper discusses how the social capital of farmers contributes to the sustainability of the partnership. The result showed that farmers and partner companies started a business based on trust between them. When one of the parties break the rules and belief became destroyed then the partnership will be threatened. If the social network is secure and visible from the interchange among members, then business will be maintained. So the social capital of farmers makes a positive contribution to support the sustainability of partnership.
This article will discuss the form of social exchange in broiler breeding using core-plasma partnership system. This study was a case study taken place in Blitar Regency as one of broiler cattle breeding centers in Indonesia. The result of research showed that cattle raisers followed core-plasma partnership system because it was considered as having smaller risk than independent system. The core-plasma partnership began with social exchange between cattle raisers and Partner Company. Profit-loss, mutual need, and trust consideration underlies the exchange occurring in core-plasma partnership. Cattle raisers with limited business capital could run broiler breeding with Partner Company’s help as integrator that provided day old chicken (DOC), feed, and drugs, and marketed the harvest product. Meanwhile, Partner Company with limited land and workers could also benefit from the partnership ran. The exchange was considered as fair when it generated profit for each other despite difference profit obtained by the parties. The end of partnership implied that there was no longer social exchange between the parties engaged.
