The textile industry is a sector completely dependent on water for its full functioning; on the other hand, water represents a very high cost in the production process. The textile chemical processing area is mainly responsible for the large consumption of water. On the opposite side of this high consumption there is an evident water crisis worldwide. That fact has led to many problems to textile companies, mainly for the preparation, dyeing and printing sectors. This present work focuses on an ecologically friendly alternative for cellulosic fiber dyeing processes using seawater. Dyeing cotton fabrics with reactive dye in three primary colors (blue, yellow and red) was performed, and the results compared with processes using distilled water. Samples dyed with seawater exhibit good uniformity, intense color (color strength – K/ S) and excellent washing and rubbing fastness properties compared to the conventional process. It was possible to observe also that the use of seawater did not affect the mechanical properties of the substrate. Thereby, it was verified that the use of seawater presents as a potential and important alternative to applications in the textile dyeing process.
Resumo: Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o impacto da pandemia causado pela COVID-19 no curso de pós-graduação em Engenharia Têxtil na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Para isso, foram elaborados dois questionários e coletados os dados dos alunos com ingresso nas turmas dos anos 2019, 2020 e 2021; e do coordenador do curso.As análises e as interpretações dos dados foram realizadas de modo qualitativo. Como resultado, notou-se que há uma predominância do gênero feminino no curso, a maioria proveniente do estado do Rio Grande do Norte, enquanto que a idade é bem diversificada, sendo que boa parte estão abaixo dos 30 anos. Dentre as principais dificuldades encontradas nas aulas remotas, foram relatadas a adaptação e falta de concentração, metodologias pouco atrativas e problemas de conexão com a internet. No que tange a pesquisa científica, a produção diminuiu e muitos foram afetados, principalmente no atraso de qualificação/defesa e obtenção e caracterização de materiais. Os dados obtidos são de suma importância para a análise do impacto gerado e através disso ser possível buscar meios para minimizar os prejuízos causados.
This work aimed to evaluate the profile of the students of the postgraduate program in Textile Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).With that purpose, data were collected by means of a questionnaire made available to students in classes 2019.1, 2020.1 and 2021.1. The method for interpreting the data was qualitative based on the population sample. As a result, it was possible to observe that most of the students are female, with a predominance below 30 years old, mainly from Rio Grande do Norte. On higher education in general are engineers, mainly textiles, followed by professions related to the area. Many have never worked in the area, as far as employment is concerned, half are working while taking the course and a small portion are scholarship holders. Regarding the course, many knew it through professors of the undergraduate course or through electronic media. The choice is mainly related to the deepening of knowledge, having a better qualification and interest in the area. Most of them intend to pursue an academic career and believe that the course is fundamental to their profession. The data obtained are of great importance to evaluate the profile of the students, the relevance of the course for the textile area, as well as a study so that the university can understand the expectations of the students and take actions to meet them, and thus supply the market with professionals specialized in the textile area.
