A atual pandemia causada pelo novo coronavírus, tem representado um dos mais graves problemas de saúde pública mundiais de todos os tempos. Para o enfrentamento da COVID-19 foram necessárias várias reformulações e adaptações no setor saúde para enfrentamento desta doença de elevado poder de contágio e com números tão elevados de letalidade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar um levantamento bibliográfico para estudar a utilização de EPIs para segurança dos profissionais e trabalhadores de saúde no período de pandemia de COVID-19. Uma das principais imposições desta nova realidade foi a demanda aumentada de atendimento nos estabelecimentos de saúde, aumentando dessa forma o risco para os profissionais e trabalhadores de saúde em desenvolver as doenças infecciosas como a COVID-19, quando comparado a população em geral, devido a maior chance de exposição a carga viral durante o período de trabalho. Em doenças como a COVID-19, além da transmissão por gotículas e contato, há exposição a procedimentos geradores de aerossóis durante a assistência aos pacientes, e os profissionais da saúde podem agir como potenciais transmissores assintomáticos, infectando outros pacientes, profissionais e familiares. Nesse contexto os equipamentos de proteção individual constituem-se em ferramenta eficaz para a prevenção de infeção e redução do contágio pela COVID-19.
Introdução: Na dificuldade de cuidar de crianças com câncer, pode-se utilizar estratégias de enfrentamento, entendidas como um conjunto de respostas comportamentais do indivíduo, diante de situação estressora e na tentativa de adaptar-se ao evento estressor. Objetivos: Avaliar as estratégias de coping de enfermeiros frente ao paciente oncológico pediátrico; determinar a quantidade de enfermeiros que utilizam coping no seu dia a dia ao cuidar de pacientes oncológicos pediátricos, identificar as estratégias coping e as situações de enfrentamento dos enfermeiros ao cuidar dos pacientes oncológicos pediátricos. Método: A pesquisa foi de natureza quantitativa, descritiva e exploratória. A coleta de dados deu-se através da aplicação do Inventário de Estratégias de Coping, no hospital referenciado para o tratamento de doenças oncológicas, Teresina (PI) de março a setembro de 2010. A população-alvo do estudo foi constituída por todos os enfermeiros que já trabalharam ou trabalham na área de oncologia pediátrica do referido hospital; de um total de 20 enfermeiros, 12 aceitaram participar. Resultados: Os resultados demonstram que a totalidade da população entrevistada utilizou estratégias de coping e a situação estressante mais citada foi a fase terminal, sendo a estratégia de enfrentamento de resolução de problemas a mais utilizada por 11 enfermeiros (93,8) e a menos, fuga-esquiva utilizada por nove enfermeiros (75%). Conclusão: A menor utilização de estratégias negativas demonstra que os enfermeiros se preocupam, se envolvem, e não negam suas responsabilidades no processo em que se encontram. Os Enfermeiros pesquisados utilizam predominantemente estratégias positivas, embora ainda recorram a meios que não ajudam no enfrentamento.
Introdução: Tão importante quanto o diagnóstico e o tratamento do câncer pediátrico são os cuidados relacionados ao impacto psicossocial, educacional e emocional. Objetivo: Avaliar em crianças e adolescentes com diagnóstico de câncer os impactos psicossociais, de qualidade de vida e da presença de acompanhante durante os procedimentos. Método: Estudo transversal, descritivo, com pacientes de 8 a 18 anos e diagnóstico de neoplasia maligna. Os pacientes responderam aos questionários: PedsQL 4.0 Qualidade de Vida (8 a 12 anos), PedsQL 3.0 Módulo de Câncer (8 a 12 anos), PedsQL 4.0 Qualidade de Vida (13 a 18 anos), PedsQL 3.0 Módulo de Câncer (13 a 18 anos) e outro sobre acompanhantes elaborado pelos autores. Resultados: Foram incluídos 25 pacientes pediátricos oncológicos que se sentiam mais felizes na presença de um acompanhante e menos ansiosos durante os procedimentos. Foi percebido grande impacto na qualidade de vida. No questionário Qualidade de Vida, não houve diferença significativa (p=0,627) entre os grupos de pacientes com 8 a 12 anos e 13 a 18 anos, porém o grupo com 8 a 12 anos teve impacto significativamente maior no questionário Módulo de Câncer (p=0,0094). Conclusão: O impacto psicossocial e na qualidade de vida é razoavelmente grande em pacientes pediátricos oncológicos. Além disso, os mais jovens parecem sofrer um impacto psicossocial maior. Os pacientes se dizem mais felizes com a presença de acompanhante, e mais ansiosos na sua ausência.
