In this study a small diameter dynamic pressure probe was used to measure the flow characteristics and the annulus thickness in a circulating fluidized bed. The nonhomogeities of fluidization in the vertical and radial directions have been measured and the results are presented in a new way, as dynamic pressure against time. The diagrams reveal that the flow can, under certain conditions, exhibit significant reversals in the core areas. Particle size distribution in the vertical direction was also studied by using the quick-closing valve technique. The pilot scale riser was cylindrical and the particles were typical FCC catalyst.On a utilise dans cette etude une sonde de pression dynamique de petit diametre afin de mesurer les caracteristiques d'ecoulement et I'epaisseur de I'espace annulaire dans un lit fluidise circulant. Les non-homogeneites de la fluidisation dans les directions verticale et radiale ont ete mesurees et les resultats sont presentes sous un nouvel angle, a savoir la pression dynamique par rapport au temps. Les diagrammes revelent que l'ecoulement peut, dans certaines conditions, presenter des inversions significatives dans les regions du coeur. On a egalement etudie la distribution de taille des particules dans la direction verticale par une technique de vanne a fermeture rapide. La colonne montante a I'echelle pilote utilisee etait cylindrique et les particules etaient un catalyseur FCC typique.
