This study aims to explore the role of cyber counseling during the pandemic for Counseling Guidance Teachers and students. This type of research is a literature study or library research using secondary data sources collected through textbooks, e-books, scientific articles, websites, and other sources relevant to the research problem. The data of this study were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that through online-based BK services, students and BK teachers/Counselors can be mutually facilitated because there are many opportunities and benefits available in an effort to support the achievement of counseling goals. The presence of cyber counseling as a counseling solution during the pandemic is expected to be able to help solve student problems at this time.
This research is based on the students� problems in writing argumentative essay, especially in developing and organizing ideas, using good grammar and diction, and applying correct writing mechanics, such as the use of capital letter, spelling, and punctuation. The purpose of this research is to solve the students� problems in writing argumentative essay through collaborative writing strategy. The design employed in this research was classroom action research. The participants involved in this research were 23 students of English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru, Indonesia. The instruments used in this research were writing test, field note, observation checklist, and interview. Based on the result of the test, the students� score had reached the criteria of success set, and it was significantly improved from the result before the research conducted. The mean score of the mid-term test was 54.9, and the mean score of the cycle test was 74.3. In addition, based on the data gained from the field note, observation checklist, and interview, it was found that the students were active, creative, and enjoy the learning process. In conclusion, the use of collaborative writing strategy can solve the students� problems in writing argumentative essay as well.Keywords: writing skill; writing aspects; argumentative essay; collaborative writing strategy; �classroom action research.
The precarious and critical period of the initiation of Discourse Analysis was populer at the end of the 1990s and the beginning of 2000s. Various approaches and frameworks were proposed during the time especially in the field of Applied Linguistics. This is including Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as one of its leading areas.� This present study aimed at exploring and catching out how the CDA� presentation in overall related to Media studies and how it can be applicable to uncover an unseen ideologies while examining the existence of media discourse studies. The study is considering 25 journal studies to scrutinize the ways and methods used in discern social phenomena while illuminating the true characteristics of the social actors. As result, it was revealed that� CDA is used openly to expose ideologies that somehow differentiate oppressed groups by offering a dummy image used by the highest authority or elite.Keywords: CDA; ideology; media discourse; social actors; power.
Students’ blog in PBIG Unilak have been used to promote English skills during these two years. This mixed method study aimed to identify and describes the major problems faced by the students during the implementation of blogging based class. This study based its data from 168 students who attended 5 different classes based-blog. Employing a total sampling technique, the students were invited to fill up online questionnaire and interview. However, only 161 feedbacks can be processed. The analysis in this study reveals there are three major problems in blog-based class, which significantly contributed to an unproductive learning process atmosphere at PBIG Unilak namely: Lack of confidence in posting article and comments in the blog; Lack of IT skills and Cyberbullying.
This study aims to analyze the use of information technology in planning and career maturity of students. This study uses a systematic literature review approach. The journals used in this systematic literature review were obtained through a database of national and international journal providers through Google Scholar which were then analyzed systematically. The results of this study indicate that the use of information technology can improve planning and career maturity in students. Both the media such as blogs, multimedia and the use of the internet can be adequate resources for student career advancement.
