Von den maßgebenden Stellen aller europäischen Länder wurde in den letzten Jahren immer wieder auf die Wichtigkeit und den außerordentlichen Wert des Sammeins und des Anbaus von Heilpflanzen in Europa hingewiesen. Die bestmögliche Erfassung der Medizinalrohstoffe ist für das Sanitätswesen und die Erhaltung des Gesuildheitszustandes der Bevölkerung Europas vordringlich. Gerade die Medizinaldrogen erfordern erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit. Die sachgemäße und richtige Kenntnis der schwierigen Materie bei den angesetzten Kräften trägt unmittelbar zur Gesunderhaltung und mithin zur erhöhten Leistungsfähigkeit der Völker bei. Es gilt, die Grundlagen für eine restlose und sachgemäße Erfassung der wertvollen Rohstoffe zu schaffen und den Anbau der dringend benötigten Heilstoffe mit allen zur Verfügung stehenden Kräften zu fördern. Für die praktische Tätigkeit der Fachleute wurde der vorliegende Leitfaden geschrieben. Das Buch enthält Wesentliches über die wichtigsten europäischen Drogen. Hinweise auf die Standorte der Heilpflanzen, ihren Anbau sowi^ die Ernte und Bearbeitung wurden gemeinsam mit erfahrenen Praktikern zusammengestellt. Es soll die Aufgabe des vorliegenden Werkes sein, der beruflichen Fortbildung zu dienen, vor allem aber auch der Schulungsarbeit an der Jugend. Sie ist die vornehmste Aufgabe aller Verantwortlichen. Meine Arbeit "Europäische Drogen" möge ein Beitrag zu dieser Schulungsarbeit sein. Durch eine Zusammenarbeit mit maßgebenden Wissenschaftlern konnte ich neue Erkenntnisse verwerten. In dankenswerter Weise stellte mir auch bei diesem Fachbuch Herr Universitätsprofessor Dr. Willy P e y e r sein reiches Wissen zur Verfügung. Herr Prof.
